THE HUNTRESS: Into Darkness Once More

Would any of you be interested in this? I see a volume containing these issues:

DC SUPER-STARS #17
BATMAN FAMILY #17-20
WONDER WOMAN #271-287, 289-290, 294-299, 301-321
BRAVE AND THE BOLD #184
SUPERMAN/BATMAN #27
CONVERGENCE: DETECTIVE COMICS #1

I guess if more needed to be added, pages from CRISIS #11 & 12 that pertain to Helena Wayne could be included, but I don’t think that would be necessary. Thoughts?

A Batwoman volume is a given, but does that mean earlier stories pre-Kate Kane will be included?

For the ROBIN volume, it will encompass not only the Dick Grayson stories but also those with Jason Todd & later Tim Drake. The same with BATGIRL. For a BATWOMAN volume, does anyone think the earlier pre-Crisis stories with Kathy Kane will be spotlighted? I think there'd be enough to fill one volume, from when she was popular during her debut and then when she was revived in the mid to late 70s, where she was eventually killed off in DETECTIVE COMICS #485. I'm not sure if the story of her murder would be included, given that she's only in the first three or four pages, but her death is the raison d'être for that storyline and leaving it out would feel just as odd in that respect. Also, there are a couple of Earth Two Batwoman stories (BRAVE AND THE BOLD #182, 197) that could be included to further pad a volume. What say any of you?

Speaking of the aforementioned BATGIRL, would Kathy's niece, Betty Kane, be similarly spotlighted? Why I ask is because I don't think there'd be enough tales to fill a full volume, unless said volume was to be "shared" between Betty Kane and Barbara Gordon's earliest stories? Betty wasn't given much of a revival like her late aunt except for a brief stint in TEEN TITANS (first series) as well as her appearing at Donna Troy's wedding in her civilian identity. Personally, I don't think her appearance at the wedding is enough to qualify inclusion in a BATGIRL volume if there was to even be one to feature her.

Watching the series on AppleTV… why isn’t Donna Reed in the opening credits during the season and episodes she starred in? Are they using the incorrect prints for this?

Unusual questions but I'll ask them anyway...

Hello all,

A thought occurred to me while revisiting CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS (having just recently bought the new 2026 Absolute Edition): with the Crisis essentially "over", the survivors regrouped to mourn their losses and bury the dead etc.

Kara Zor-L of Earth Two (Power Girl) is shown briefly with Kal-El of Earth One (Superman). Presumably they commiserate over their mutual losses. Does Kara (and anyone else who temporarily remembers him) think he's actually deceased at this point? I don't see how any of them would be aware of what transpired given that everyone present left that reality "forever".

It's later mentioned in INFINITY, INC. #25 by Dr. Fate that Kal-L (and Princess Diana) has left the world forever and Carter Hall (Hawkman) mentions this as well in LAST DAYS OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY during the memorial service for Dick Grayson and Helena Wayne, so clearly Kara knows at that point that Kal-L didn't die.

Still, how is it that Fate knows any of this? His being a mystic seems a little too convenient to explain away that loophole, at least to me... also, how is it that the JSA goes to Asgard/Ragnarok fully aware of the previous pre-Crisis Earth Two and Multiverse and yet when they return from their "eternal exile", they no longer do? Did Mekanique's manipulation (to plant false memories of having always been on Earth Only) extend to where the JSA was, or did it simply take effect the moment they stepped out of Limbo?

I know Roy Thomas was gone from DC by this time so who knows if anyone else tried to explain any of this. I don't recall anyone else making the effort. My overall feeling was that DC was "over it" at the time, but given that the purpose of CRISIS was to simplify continuity, this presented a bit of a glitch in said timeline. Roy was embittered at the time (understandably) that DC didn't ask him to write the JSA mini-series once the group was brought back into the forefront. Had he been involved, given his penchant for addressing minutiae (both important and trivial), these loopholes might have been addressed.

What I’ve read so far… how about you?

Here’s what I’ve READ so far, not just what I’ve bought. I’ve bought practically every collection that’s come out and like to mix it up with something modern or newer followed by something classic etc. It’s all in an attempt to try to get through everything (who knows if I’ll succeed). The earlier material can be arduous to get through sometimes. Ironically, some of the Silver Age is more of a chore than some of the Golden Age but it all interconnects with other characters and groups that I love. It’s an education of sorts since some of this is first time reading for me rather than a revisit. Currently reading LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES Zap Goes The Legion, which I’ve never read before but being a Supergirl and Superboy fan, I thought I’d give the LSH a try. I find the stories surprisingly good and am now figuring out why fandom loves them. Prior to this I never got into the grouo since so many of their names sounded silly to my uninformed ears. Glad to finally “get it” and hope more LSH is on its way.

Anyway, how about you folks? Out of the many DCF trades you’ve purchased, what have you read thus far? Have you purchased things you’re totally unfamiliar with but have become a fan of due to “DCF exposure” (doesn’t that sound like a disease? LOL)? How about the reverse? Have you purchased something you remember loving years ago and are now realizing with a revisit that it doesn’t hold up nearly as well as you remember it? The pros and cons of DCF exposure… what are yours?

More "early" Catwoman?

Hey all,

Quick question for you. Thought of this while reading the latest JOKER Finest. Do you think they'll release volumes of Catwoman's stories prior to LIFE LINES? She certainly would have enough to fill about two or three volumes, especially if the Earth Two Catwoman is involved. What are the chances?

Some random musings…

What’s the likelihood of the newspaper strips of SUPERMAN, BATMAN & WONDER WOMAN getting their own Finest volume? What about the animated Timmverse? That could fill several volumes. If SUPER POWERS (from the 80s) ever got a volume like SUPER FRIENDS, does anyone think the mini-comics that came with the figures would be included since all 3 miniseries wouldn’t be enough for one complete collection? What about an adaptation line for the movies and TV shows? There is plenty of material that they’ve yet to get to that I want more than what’s mentioned above (particularly the pre-Crisis Earth Two titles), but it’d be interesting to see if something could be done with material that isn’t easy to fit in elsewhere. Thoughts?

Quick question for you all. Was Fury initially a “forgotten” person post CRISIS #10, a la Helena Wayne and the Earth Two Dick Grayson, until Brainwave Jr. erased her memories? I know she eventually was retrofitted to be the daughter of the then newly created Golden Age Fury, but what about the time between CRISIS #11 through INFINITY, INC. #27? Did she have a recorded identity on “Earth Only” from the very beginning or did that come about after INFINITY, INC. #27?
