Stories You'd Like to Have Seen Happened in the Later Seasons.

From season 11 and beyond, Dallas really started to lose itself. I was thinking today of some stories that could have helped the final seasons. Share your thoughts, and tell me what you might have liked to have seen happen.

-When Sue Ellen divorces JR again, what if Mandy Winger came back and got married. Nicholas Pearce and Sue Ellen get together. JR becomes jealous of Pearce and Sue Ellen, and starts an affair with Sue Ellen as a mistress to wife Mandy. Sue Ellen gets pregnant with JR's child.

- Inspired from JR Returns, Maybe Sue Ellen and Jeremy Wendell work together after finding out JR is going after Westar. Sue Ellen buys the Ewing Oil assets before JR can get them, leading to JR having enough shares and proxies to take over Westar as Chair. Sue Ellen and Bobby work together in the new Ewing Oil, and Jeremy Wendell is left chasing to get Westar back.

-Cliff reconciles with Afton, bringing her back to Dallas and marrying her. Cliff ends up selling Barnes Wentworth and gets back into politics as a congressman or senator.

-Lucy comes back and takes over Valentine Lingerie for Sue Ellen.

-Bobby hooks up with April sooner and intends to marry her. This leads to Katherine Wentworth to come back to town. Katherine kidnaps April prior to the wedding, but Bobby saves April. They get married and have a baby.

-Miss Ellie should die instead of move away. Leaving the ranch to Bobby. JR gets upset and moves out of Southfork.

I mean: fair point. The scene where J.R. and Bobby investigate Calhoun's hotel room is one of the more oddly timeless scenes in the series

Even though they are from Texas I don't think I ever expected J.R. to be packing and actually going to a gun range during the very entertaining B.D. Calhoun arc. Season 10 (DVD) sort of feels like 3 mini seasons in one and I'm very curious as to how they're going to build everything up to Pam's exit.

Minor asides/quibbles: Donna's character who I've loved for the most part ever since she was introduced has begun to kind of irritate me in her actions and attitude towards Ray (who isn't even in my top 5 favorite characters) and April is a character who I do not see the appeal of at all (other than maybe playing a more important role in relation to the Jeremy Wendell/Pam plots that I haven't seen the full extent of yet).

Does her character improve?

Other than that I'm really enjoying this season.

Season 8 Episode 25 - Dallas

The Mark Grayson story line is dumb. Cousin Jamie looks silly with short hair. Her jaw looks ridiculous with that cut. Sue Ellen was starting to look god but what whale they tried to give her since the dumb trip to Hong Kong looks worse this episode! And really Ray! Can’t you stop being so petty over Donna’s success and the whining dumb ole Cowboy act? Pam still can’t cry and yells like a spoiled 5 year old. Even with all of this, I still can’t stop watching! Oh yeah and this Miss Ellie makes more sense to me for guys falling for her. Donna Reed looks amazing. I’m used to her now and love her style. Too bad they didn’t start off with her. I know there are die-hard Barbara B. fans out there but her old lady garb just irks me.

Is there a missing episode?

Watching from Australia. I’ve been binge watching Dallas for the first time. Prime has Return to Camelot part 1 and Return to Camelot Part 2. They are both the exact same episode when I play them though. Is this a mistake by prime? Are there supposed to be two different episodes?

S5E2 JR's new secretary Sly!

I am excited to see Sly's first appearance on Dallas. She typed 90 and 120 words per minute in shorthand. Her dad was friends with JR's hired cop, Harry McSween. She was very beautiful & pleasant. She was my favourite secretary for JR. She was very loyal to JR & assisted him with undercover work.

Afton Cooper

I am really enjoying watching Afton in Season 4 & early Season 5. She has more common sense than her brother Mitch, who is furious at his wife, Lucy, for making more money than he does. Afton is clever to help JR get the documents that Cliff had by drugging him, so he could find a way to explain how JR paid off the insurgents in Southeast Asia. She is being nice to Cliff. She is a lot more street smart than Mitch.

Saddest/most emotional scene or episode?

There are so many! The ones that come to mind are the Jim Davis memorial episode for sure, and I strangely always cry when Dusty and Sue Ellen break up at the rodeo as well.

The attire in the 'Masquerade' episode from the dream season is a wonder to behold

I don't think I was prepared for how weird this season was going to be. Definitely a bit of a departure from Golden age (78-84) Dallas, and though it sagged a bit as far as pacing and the long winded plot in the middle, I really enjoyed the first third and last third of the season.

Obviously, it's a controversial opinion to have given how all the developments from this season are just wiped away and set back to square one with that shower scene and dream explanation but I can sort of see how the whole thing was a reflection of Pam's psyche/subconscious with, for example, how manipulated and bewildered J.R. was by Angelica Nero for most of the season and Cliff gradually becoming a more reasonable, kinder version of himself.

It's interesting in an alternate timeline/universe kind of a way, but then again I am a fan of sci-fi and fantasy, so I tend to have a high tolerance for the weird and unusual.

Anyway: off to season 10 (DVD)!
