I’m a new watcher midway through season 1 and my god… he really is the man everyone loves to hate. Everything he’s done in these limited episodes has been so vile I can’t believe it took so long for someone to get him back.
Please no spoilers as to who shoots him! I still have no idea and I’m happy this way, because anyone would be justified.
Sarper had such a good reaction after Shekinah’s extremely inappropriate comment to Thais. He wasn’t supporting what she said, but he was trying to deescalate by getting her out of there. He wasn’t trying to talk down to her, wasn’t dogpiling even if he could’ve because her comment is offense to him too, wasn’t forcing her to be surrounded by people out to get her, and even if violence isn’t the answer him defending her from Guillermo just makes him a good husband to me. Guillermo came out to (rightfully) give Shekinah shit for what she said, but Sarper, like a good husband, wanted to keep that away during such a heated moment. His wife didn’t need to be yelled at even more, she needed to be allowed to go home and let everyone cool off. It was a really good move on his part.
We’ve seen so many sides of Sarper throughout the series and I feel like he’s actually had growth. He’s still a misogynist and can be difficult to listen to, but he’s not the man he was on his first season. Ultimately he’s a good husband to Shekinah even when she doesn’t deserve it.
