S6 E9 : Fringe Benefits

I love this competition between Bobby & JR to see who will take control of Ewing Oil.

Bobby has a deal with the Canadians where it is snowing in every scene in Toronto.

JR is up to something with his variance.

The cartel is plotting against JR. Punk Anderson shows up to warn Bobby.

It is such an entertaining show.

Joe Kernen rant on Tik Tok.

Joe is in a bad mood today. He is upset at the Disney-TikTok partnership. He complained about kids watching too many TikTok videos and growing up to be socialists. Becky didn't know how to handle him.

Joe also complained about too many fat people in the USA despite rising sales of Zepbound & Mounjaro.

Becky told Joe to avert his eyes.

Sarasota is becoming more popular for millennial home buyers.

Sarasota area leads nation in millennial homeownership growth

Sarasota area leads U.S. in millennial homeownership growth as North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton tops RentCafe ranking.

Sarasota Herald-Tribune

The Sarasota area leads the nation for millennial homeownership growth, according to a new study of 107 major U.S. metropolitan areas by RentCafe, a national apartment listing website and rental housing research platform.

The findings reflect the Sarasota area's rapid shift from a retiree destination to a magnet for younger households during and after the pandemic.

Florida metropolitan areas dominated the latest report, with Orlando ranking No. 1 for millennial renter growth and the federally designated North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton metropolitan area ranking No. 1 for millennial homeownership growth.

The number of millennial homeowners in the Sarasota area nearly tripled between 2018 and 2023, increasing more than 166%.

In 2018 millennials owned 13,212 homes in the Sarasota area, with that number growing to 35,144 in 2023.

USA TODAY Shopping: Shop sales in tech, home, fashion, beauty & more curated by our editors.

The Sarasota area millennial rental households grew from 25,295 to 29,196 between 2018 and 2023, representing a 15.4% increase, which was ranked No. 15 nationally.

The study period coincides with the COVID-19 pandemic, when Southwest Florida experienced a surge of new residents. That migration helped skew the demographics younger in fast-growing master-planned communities such as Lakewood Ranch and Wellen Park, according to Rick Severance, president of Mattamy Homes' Wellen Park Division, in a March 2023 interview with the Herald-Tribune.

Lakewood Ranch, which spans Sarasota and Manatee counties, and Wellen Park are consistently in the top 10 master-planned communities for sale, according to a ranking from RCLCO Real Estate Consulting.

In 2023, which corresponds to the time period of the RentCafe study, Lakewood Ranch ranked No. 1 and Wellen Park No. 9 but had a 23% growth rate that year.

S5E2 JR's new secretary Sly!

I am excited to see Sly's first appearance on Dallas. She typed 90 and 120 words per minute in shorthand. Her dad was friends with JR's hired cop, Harry McSween. She was very beautiful & pleasant. She was my favourite secretary for JR. She was very loyal to JR & assisted him with undercover work.

Afton Cooper

I am really enjoying watching Afton in Season 4 & early Season 5. She has more common sense than her brother Mitch, who is furious at his wife, Lucy, for making more money than he does. Afton is clever to help JR get the documents that Cliff had by drugging him, so he could find a way to explain how JR paid off the insurgents in Southeast Asia. She is being nice to Cliff. She is a lot more street smart than Mitch.

Alcohol availability in Dallas offices & homes.

I am impressed that there was always hard liquor available in almost every scene at a home or office in Dallas. They even had ice cubes ready in a bucket. My dad was an executive at a Fortune 500 company in the 1980s. I don't remember him having a liquor cabinet in his office. Was this normal during the 1980s, or was it just for the show?

S4 E13 Making of a President

I am impressed that Bobby wanted to invest in Alternative Energy in 1981. Talking about Solar Power & Windmills was revolutionary in those days.

Season 4 Episode 10 Executive Wife

I have been waiting to see this episode. It is the first appearance of Jeremy Wendell of Westar Oil. He wants Bobby to break a contract and sell him gasoline at $2 per barrel above the market price. Wendell is the best enemy of the Ewing Oil. He used to drive JR crazy for many seasons. Bobby is loyal to old customers like Brady York.

Bobby always misses lunch dates with Pam.

Are cannabis stores now legal in Oakville ?

Apparently, a store called Bong's opened up on Trafalgar Rd. Budlife is on North Service Road. I thought Oakville didn't allow cannabis stores. Did the Town change the rules without telling anyone?

Jordan Lee & Andy Bradlee.

I am glad to be rewatching Season 3, episode "Paternity Suit".

Jordan Lee mentions to Miss Ellie that his wife couldn't attend the Ewing cocktail party because she is about to give birth. I never remember Jordan Lee having a wife or a child. Andy Bradlee is flirting with Kristin while JR is starting to flirt with Marilee Stone. Andy's wife, Linda, is a member of the DOA & likes gossiping about Sue Ellen. These extra characters made Dallas very interesting. I am not happy with how Jordan Lee was written out of the show.

S3 E5 The Kristin Affair

This is one of my favorite episodes to date during my rewatch. Kristin is a devious wench as JR called her. She is so fascinating to watch. Sue Ellen must have known what Kristin was trying to do. I'm not sure why she didn't send her out of Dallas.

Sue Ellen & Alcohol

Why was Sue Ellen drinking in almost every scene at the ranch while she was pregnant? Didn't doctors recommend not drinking during pregnancy?
