Washer-dryer door seal torn -> realistic DIY for a first-timer?
First post here and honestly my first ever washing machine, so bear with me.
Something got caught between the door and the gasket during a spin cycle (probably a towel). Pulled out a chunk of the boot seal on the drum side when I opened the door – pics attached. Machine is completely dead now, water pours out the second I start a cycle.
It's a Bauknecht WATK Sense 96 41 N (Whirlpool platform, Germany), 14 months old, paid ~$550 new. A Bauknecht service callout alone is $275+ before any parts or labor, so I'd really like to fix this myself. Found what looks like the right replacement gasket online for ~$35-65, type number matches exactly [link].
I have all the standard household tools: screwdrivers, pliers, full Allen and Torx sets. Anything else I'd need? Like a Needle-nose or something?
My 3 main questions:
Any good resources for this repair? Couldn't find a YouTube video or service manual specifically for a washer-dryer – only for regular Bauknecht/Whirlpool front-loaders. Do those transfer 1:1?
Does being a washer-dryer complicate things vs. a regular washer? I've seen mention of extra connections to the drying air circuit on the gasket.
I'm generally handy and not afraid of taking things apart, but I have zero experience with large appliances. Is this something a first-timer can realistically pull off, or does it genuinely need a trained tech?
