I’m due to start on Monday when I accepted my offer 2 weeks ago and got my start date I emailed asking about parking and didn’t hear back so this week I emailed again and got a response in the afternoon that parking is only available when I’ve registered with the parking committee but I don’t know if I’m able to do this before starting as where my job is there’s no alternative parking except on a dodgy looking road and now this has messed me up since by public transport it’ll take an hour to get there compared to the 15 minute drive and I wouldn’t assumed if I needed to register it would’ve been included in previous emails - is it easy registering since I can’t do public transport all the time until this gets fixed as I budgeted for enough petrol and filled my car up ready for this and now I’m facing additional transport costs

I’ve just been emailed that I’ve been successful in getting a new job but I havent set a start date yet but my next shift is tomorrow do I hand my 4 weeks notice in then or wait until the hiring manager emails me but then the delay would mean waiting until next week to do it which would also set me back an extra week

also what do I need to do to give notice I heard a colleague said they handed a sheet of paper in should I write something down like the date of my last shift or do I have to do anything else?

hi I was on the reserve list for this role accepted the provisional offer on the same day I got the email filled in everything I needed to, uploaded my right to work documents and passport and now for the last two weeks it’s still showing as pre employment checks does this tend to last awhile and should I look for other jobs as I’ve heard sometimes they do the checks but it takes awhile and then there isn’t a job for you anymore

i was asked to be a responsible colleague around 2 months ago I agreed because when he described the role it was just stepping in to manage the store for a few hours maximum either opening or closing and I agreed but this manager also knew I’m looking for other jobs because he’d asked in the past now I’ve been told there’s more expected of me that I can be left to run the store for 8 hours, have to be on call for fridge alarms and need to train for bakery I’ve been shown the foa, mat and shrink systems a few times but still struggle with what to do on the mar and shrink and now it seems like more than I can handle compared to what I was previously told when I said yes and now the manger said this morning when I saw him that when I said I didn’t want bakery training you need to as part of the rc role and you should have asked but like if I knew all this I would have said no plus there’s another one being trained in my small store but he’s not being shown as much as me like I want a full time job somewhere else as soon as possible like I might train to be a rc and then hand my notice in but they knew im a recent graduate and I don’t want to just work part time at this store forever and have looked for other jobs what can i do?

I was offered a provisional offer after being on a reserve list and I accepted verified my identity and filled in the pre appointment form - how long should this take to be looked at as I’m going away for a week in a couple of days during my interview no one asked about any booked holidays I had so I don’t want this to cause a problem plus I forgot to add I had a previous shoulder condition on the health section but it was just a sprain from pulling delivery cages at work and has now gone away I emailed the recruitment people just to clarify but realistically how long should all the checks take to be done as I’ve submitted everything and have no crimps record or anything that will negatively pop up as I have to give 4 weeks notice at my retail job

I’m thinking of upgrading to have cinema there’s quite a few films id watch in there plus I’d use the cinema tickets is it worth it for the newer stuff that comes out

I messed up my holiday request by requesting a day I don’t need off with the day after it - it’s already been approved should I just talk to a manager or do I need to cancel all of it as it’s multiple days and re do it

my manager has just asked if I was interested in being trained up as a responsible colleague and I agreed what’s it like and what trading do you get?

edit: I am thinking of progressing to a manager and applying for the trainee manager programme when it next happens and the managers at my store are really nice so I don’t think I’ll be taken advantage of

I submitted my holiday reject for a weekend off next year in July 2027 and so far it’s been over a week and the manager that handles them hasn’t approved or denied it and has now gone on holiday my problem is the other managers won’t handle it so I’m left chasing her when she comes back after reminding her about my holiday request 3 times what should I do?

hi in my store there’s a dedicated manager that handles holiday requests and she’s on holiday herself quite a bit like she’s just had a week off and is going away for 2 weeks soon and I don’t always work on the days she’s in so I can’t ask her and no one else will handle it I’ve requested a weekend off for next year and it’s been aweek and I haven’t heard anything

I applied for some holiday for next year on the 8th (Wednesday) as I just wanted to get it over with since I booked my accommodation as it was selling fast and though I only work 2 days a week at 12 hours so it shouldn’t be denied when I’ve put in the request a year in advance.

I’m applying to other jobs as I’m finishing uni will a manger agree to provide one and if so should I just put their phone number down as I don’t know anyone’s email addresses

hi I have an interview scheduled for the role above what kind of questions will be asked and what should I do to maximise my chance of getting the role - also on the application it says withdrawn but I still got an mail about booking an interview but I can’t seem to change the time of it is that nKemal?

usually I shut the bin gate wine I take the rubbish out but it’s been bin collection day and the gates were wide open with the bins just left not in the usual places so I left it open because usually the manager has to padlock it shut at closing but I don’t think he did when we shut

I’ve got a rotator cuff injury and was advised by the gp to do lighter duties and told my manager and showed a print out of this advice with regards to not pull cages until the pain goes away as so far nothing I take makes it better and i was told verbally that I wouldn’t have to pull cages and someone would do it for me. but it never happened o spent my shift pulling cages and carrying heavy items which means my shoulder feels worse and the manager that said I can have lighter duties didn’t do anything so I’ve worked the same way I do every week even though it’s led to this happening I thought since I had the doctors advice printed out the managers had to follow it ?

I’ve been ha shoulder pain for awhile now and the doctor said it’s my rotator cuff that’s probably been strained and that I should ask for lighter duties and not be pulling cages she also printed the appointment notes off for me so the manager can see it’s legit. but I work on a busy delivery day and I’m the only one that handles the delivery and my other coworker stays on the till - she could probably do the delivery but just stays on the tills everytime and just says she has a bad wrist but hasn’t seen a doctor about it. what happens if the manager says I need to do the cages I could probably still work the stock but if need someone else to pull the cages away from me and download it out back and that would likely have to be the manager
