ntermittent P0471 Code on 2022 Kia K5 LXS (100k Miles) - Replaced Sensor (OEM), Need Advice!
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some insights on a frustrating issue I’m having with my 2022 Kia K5 LXS. The car has been absolutely flawless and just hit 100,000 miles, but I recently started getting an intermittent P0471 code (Exhaust Pressure Sensor Range/Performance).
Here is what’s happening and what I’ve done so far:
- What I've tried: I already replaced the exhaust pressure sensor with a new one, but unfortunately, it didn’t change anything.
- The Symptoms: The Check Engine Light (CEL) isn't permanent. It comes and goes. For example, it might pop up on Monday, completely disappear by Wednesday, and then randomly come back on Thursday mid-drive.
- The Trigger: I’ve noticed a specific pattern. If I accelerate hard or step on the gas heavily, the CEL triggers almost immediately. However, if I drive smoothly, maintain steady RPMs, and avoid aggressive acceleration, the light stays off and I can drive all day without any issues.
I’ve spent hours researching online. Some threads suggest that the exhaust tubes/tubing going to the sensor might be clogged with carbon buildup and just need a thorough cleaning. Other sources point toward a dirty EGR valve.
Because the code is so intermittent and dependent on heavy acceleration, I’m still struggling to pinpoint the exact root cause.
Has anyone experienced this specific issue with their K5 1.6 turbo engine around this mileage? Should I focus on cleaning the tubes, checking the EGR, or looking into something else entirely?
I hope to fix the error so I can give advice in the article on what people should do when faced with this situation. There are virtually no proven solutions yet.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
