Ok first of all, I'm on my last night of my travel here in Slovenia, what an amazing country!

I choose to stay at hostels 95% of the time and I can't help but noticed that socializing in the common room is slowly diminishing.

Like I get it, some people might wanna have chill time after a long day of tour, or planning for their next destination. But I noticed that almost everyone is on their phones!

My last night here at the hostel and I thought "oh why not stay a while in the common room and have a chit-chat with other fellow travelers. Lo and behold! Everyone is on their phones like literally every single soul in the common room! After half an hour of" dead silence", I decided to just give up, finished my tea and went back to my room.

This was not just a one time event! It happened almost every hostel that I stayed in.

It used to be fun to stay in the common room when I started solo travelling. The thought of meeting people from different parts of the world, learning cultures, languages, or just simply hear other people's perspectives for me is one of the reasons why I choose hostels over hotels.

What are your thoughts about this "dwindling" socializing in the hostel common room?
