First time about to go out to catch mainly gar but I might have a rod or 2 on some catfish or carp, my rig is a Carolina rig on a steel leader with a small treble hook, i have frozen bluegill I could use for cut bait for gar, what do you think?

New to fishing for gar and remembered I have steel leaders and I've heard small hooks are good for gar and I combined the 2 and got this, please inform me if this is good or not and some bait recommendations, im fishing the big piney river in missouri

I found this dead snake yesterday while walking around the pond and thought, "it's meat, catfish like meat" so I put the head on 2 hooks for extra security and got a huge bite, I've caught catfish this size before, many times, but it's just so bizarre how catfish can eat anything, what's the craziest thing you've caught a catfish on?

Found it while going over it with him, some say it's hundreds, some say it's maybe 10 im confused

Im mostly referring to the really cheap ones like the samolla glide baits that you can get for around 3 bucks and the bassdash 4.5 inch glide you can get for maybe 6 or 7 dollars, placed an order for a few of each and couldn't find any videos on the samolla and a couple on the bassdash and want to ask people if they've personally tried them or caught anything on them
