Mohyal themselves claimed Bhumihars in the book written by Mohyal Sabha...the contents of which the elder Mohyals claimed to be based on "confirmatory evidence," whose primary sources were gathered by the Mohyals themselves (Slide for all the pages)...

Contrary to the misinformation that has been spread about Bhumihars claiming Mohyals and Tyagis, it was actually the Mohyals who wrote an entire book asserting that Bhumihars are a lost tribe of Mohyals settled in the east. They appeared to be quite convinced of this erroneous claim. It makes sense for the Mohyals to have made such a claim, considering that Bhumihars have been the most illustrious tribe of the eastern Gangetic plains. Naturally, anyone would want to claim us as their own kin.

In 1811, Francis Buchanan highlighted how Bhumihars, known as the military order Brahmins, were called Babhan by the common people, while the sacred order Brahmins were called just Brahmin in Magadha.

The general population of Bihar called us Babhan in Magadha, Tirhut and Anga regions.
