ARC readers wanted! - Psychological Horror Novel

Hello everyone! I'm currently looking for ARC readers for my upcoming horror novel, Where Fear Smiles! With this all I am looking for is honest reviews after you read it :)

Details below:

Cover for the novel made by me!

Would you forgive your best friend if she was responsible for ruining your life?

A whispered rumour draws a group of students into the dense forests of coastal Brazil: a lost Indigenous artifact, hidden for centuries and promising academic glory.

While Leah’s colleagues are determined to claim it, she only agrees to the trek because she can’t bear the thought of being left behind, and forces her best friend Charlotte to go with her for support against her dark thoughts.

What was meant to be an escape from the weight of the academic semester, quickly it turns into a test of endurance. The deeper they push into the forest, the darker Leah begins to dream. When they finally uncover what they came for, the discovery reveals something far more terrifying than any of them imagined.

A demon born of nightmares is unleashed, and with it, carnage.

Now the survivors must find a way to drive the nightmare back to its realm before society is doomed to never dream again. But as the forest closes in, the greatest horror isn't the ancient evil — it's watching a lifelong trust begin to rot.

Horror writers: how is KDP treating you?

Hello fellow authors, I've published my first book, a horror short story novella, last year, not thinking of making any success or whatnot with it. That collection was first and foremost my entry-pass on KDP, a way for me to understand how the platform worked (though I worked pretty hard on the short stories and live them to my heart and the few ARCs I'd managed go get loved them too).

Now, I'm on my way to publish my first novel ever, and I've been doing everything in a much better way than my previous publication. I have beautiful covers, different formats, book formatted nicely, ISBNs ready, and now I'm running my ARC campaign.

That being said, I love to pop up here every now and then, as well as other writing and self-pub subs just to learn new things and see what the scenario is.

So... It bothers me a bit not to see more horror authors' posts lol usually I see romance, fantasy, or non-fiction which I totally get it, but I'd like to see what my peers are up to.

So, what are you up to? 😅🖤

Feminist/Female Horror Short Story Collection - Tears and Shadows

Ten women. Ten stories. Ten ways to face your fears.

Cover for Tears and Shadows (all made by me!)

From childhood, women are taught to fear many things, to follow the rules, otherwise they will be killed or worse.
But what happens when they decide to disobey?

Some of them end up facing unimaginable horrors, each in their own way: Lilian is forced to relive a traumatic past during a rainy week, convinced that the man who destroyed her life has returned to finish the job. Marcie believes she's leading a normal life, until a possible doppelganger begins to ruin it. Martha suspects something is wrong with her dogs, but soon discovers that it's not them she should be afraid of. Clara has a dark wish and will do anything to fulfill it. Alex thought she had gotten rid of the pervert who assaulted her one night, but she soon realizes that someone far worse awaits her.

Each page of these and other stories reveals how far fear can take a woman, and what happens when it becomes unbearable.

Tense, gripping, and unsettling, Tears and Shadows is a collection of psychological and supernatural horror stories that explore fear from women's perspectives.

For all the women out there who know what true horror looks like and would love to see some gory revenge.

The horror surfacing from human nature or from another world lurks in the pages of this book. If you love twist-filled stories full of suspense, paranoia, and morally dark turns, Tears and Shadows will make you wonder what hides in the shadows of your room.

From $2.99, Tears and Shadows is only $0.99 until August 3rd!!! Enjoy the promotion my fellow horror lovers 🖤

How long for pre-orders?

Hey everyone! I have searched the internet this whole morning to find out the answer for my question, however, I couldn't find a proper answer for someone who has the book ready to roll. All the answers I found were for those who are still editing or proofreading at least.

Now, I'd like your insight, please, to see if I'm going crazy with my plan:

I have a horror novel to be published on October 13th (a tuesday as I saw was the best day of the week to publish, and Halloween month, so great for my genre). It is around 55k words.

I am currently setting up my ARC campaign, to start on August 1st, ending on September 15th, that's when I'll send the digital copies to the ARCs (leaving them with about a month to read).

I have everything ready on Ingram and Amazon to publish, all saved as a draft, but I've been wondering: should I open the pre-orders on August or should I open the pre-orders only on September 15th?

I will publish in all formats (ebook, paperback, and hardcover). 2 months of pre-orders for the paperback seems like too much, but only one month also seems like too little 🥲

I know for the ebook I'll open the pre-orders two weeks before the release date as I saw it is best, but for the physical copies I'm so unsure 🫠

Thank you all in advance 🖤

TL;DR: I have my horror book (55k words) all ready to publish (October 13th). ARC opens August 1st, closes September 15th. September 15th ARCs are sent. Ebook pre-orders will open two weeks before release. Should I open physical book pre-orders on August or September? Or should it be in any other date? TIA

Finding motivation after beta readers

Guys I just needed to share. I have received the feedback from my beta readers, for my upcoming horror novel, and one of the major things they pointed out is that my characters are lacking somewhat of motivation for them to really get to the major horror turning point.

While at the start I was a bit upset because I thought that wouldn't be a problem, I finally got some time to sit down and edit based on the feedback, and oh boy! I found my motivation to write again!

By focusing on perfecting that specific aspect first, I am managing to make my characters much more real and intriguing, and their relationships are getting more complex, which is something I needed as it is hugely a psychological horror novel.

We see so many negative posts about things that don't work here that I decided to share this good thing that happened to me, and now I ask of you:

What are positive things that happened to your story after you've received feedback on it?
