Bringing a new friend into our home?
Hi,
I’m really considering adopting a second cat. I’ve had my current black void angel baby for 10-11 months, and have fallen in love with watching him grow into himself. He’s pretty young (1 yr 1 month) and I feel he could be kind of depressed, I think he could be craving companionship. We live in a three person household, he is very loved by humans. We have an older dog (16-17ish) who just has no interest in his kitty like attempts to play with her - flopping on his back trying to paw at her paws (at least I think this is playful behavior?) he has always always been around people and is fairly adaptable. He has already lived in a few varying environments with me, we’ve gone on roadtrips/camping, he’s awesome. I’m hopeful if I do get another they could become friends (overtime, im aware and intend to do the slow process of introduction/space sharing/etc) and enjoy playing together / just generally existing in the same space. What do you all think? He is my first cat, any advice is appreciated.
Should I be looking for specific traits / characteristics (social, age, sex, etc) of a second cat?
