Rotten potato smell still lingering
I forgot I had a bag of potatoes in my cupboard before going on vacation. When I got back, the entire cupboard smelled like something had literally died inside it. I honestly expected to find a dead mouse or rat.
After searching around, I eventually discovered the culprit was a completely rotten bag of potatoes. It was absolutely disgusting and I genuinely didn’t know potatoes could smell that bad.
The weird part is the bag never leaked and the cupboard itself was spotless. But somehow the smell still won’t go away.
I’ve already cleaned the entire area multiple times with soap, sanitizer wipes, and vinegar. The overwhelming rotten smell is mostly gone now, but whenever I put my face near the area where the potatoes were, I can still smell it. It also seems like the odor seeped into the other shelves somehow.
I’ve even left baking soda in the cupboard for weeks and it made basically no difference.
It’s been over 3 weeks since I cleaned everything and I honestly can’t stand the smell anymore. Has anyone dealt with this before or know how to actually get rid of it?
