Anyone upset that they kind-of ruined Brenda’s character with that cheating plot over nothing?

Hi! I realise that i’m late to the conversation but I just finished binge watching Young Sheldon today (best ride of my life) and it’s very upsetting to me how they ruined Brenda’s character for nothing. If they didn’t have the courage to continue the cheating plot to the end (which i’m glad they didn’t, it was out-of-character of George to cheat or attempt to cheat and no idrc about the canon in BBT) then why have us go through all that unnecessary drama and ruin Brenda & Mary’s friendship? They had such a sweet sisterhood dynamic going on and they just ruined it for a “cheating” plot that didn’t even happen and didn’t make sense at all. Also that bar hangout was overdramatised for nothing. George drinking with Brenda was wrong, yes, absolutely, but he was uncomfortable with Brenda’s request. Like the face he made at the bar wasn’t the face of someone who said “oh yes i wanna go home and cheat on my wife with you” but the face of someone who was weirded out by that request and realised that sitting at a bar with a stranger woman was wrong. And they just kept carrying out that plot for 2 seasons with unnecessary drama and George’s random “crush” on Brenda (what the heck was even that?!) and even added an unnecessary character (Pastor Rob) to the mix just to never follow through it and it just made the watch kind of unbearable to me. They could’ve stuck with the retcon since the beginning and gave George and Mary other issues to work through in their marriage (bc boy they had many) rather than “cheating”. I also don’t like how they added Pastor Rob to make George’s probability of cheating more acceptable to the audience. George is a family man who had the opportunity to walk out with no consequences so many times yet he didn’t so him risking the peace of his family for a lady he didn’t even seem THAT attracted to since he was clearly jealous of Pastor Rob‘s closeness to Mary multiple times didn’t make sense at all.

Young Sheldon was a perfect show for me up until that cheating plot. I get that the retcon was probably a last minute thought since George was getting more love than they anticipated but they should’ve done it way before rather than ruin Brenda’s character and George’s as well. Food for thought.
