Frankie was so harsh with brick when they forgot his birthday

I usually get frankie’s outbursts but this was just bad. You forgot his birthday, you offer him whatever he wants he chooses to spend time with his family but of course you can’t even sit through that. I get that brick is annoying but he’s your kid too

What are your guys’ theories on what happened with Frankie and Mike after the finale?

I know the last episode showed the kids’ future but what do you think mike and frankie did? Here’s my theory it’s just some things i think would happen: Sue starts working for a big hotel chain that gives discounts for employees and Mike and Frankie take advantage of that. Axl’s kids are spoiled by their grandparents especially mike because they remind him of the young axl who played basketball with him. Brick marries Cindy an d moves to orson where he buys a house like it was shown in the halloween episode. The kids all chip in to send mike and frankie to paris and they finally have the vacation they wanted. Frankie adopts another dog like colin firth and mile once again falls for the dog. They never change the kids’ rooms because no matter how many shenanigans they did they miss them a lot and mile finds random excuses to call them everyday

Ooohhh also if they wanted to make a future episode, they could show that axl and lexi are going on vacation and drop the kids off at the hecks’. At the same time sue and sean visit but they can’t stay together due to some renovations going on at the donahues. Brick obviously shows up unannounced with a suitcase. The next week shows axl’s kids acting exactly like axl and the whole family in a deja vu sort of situation

How poor is the Heck family?

It’s just that their house is big, and they have a pool, so they don’t look poor to me. Also, Frankie’s mom and dad look quite wealthy to me. They also have this billiard table in their basement.

Sue and her impressive energy!

In character Sues energy is contagious at times, but more importantly imagine how tiring playing that part must have been ! Do you agree? 👍🏻

Let’s just get this out the way…

Yes, the Heck’s were not really “poor”.

They spent frivolously, put things on credit cards they never intended to pay off, ate takeout every dinner and genuinely were financial messes.

When they got money they would spend it on cable over bills, and cars, lip balms, and jeans over desperately needed home improvements.

They entered into a terrible credit card cycle, like many people did pre-2008, which would have been terribly hard to claw themselves out of.

Mike probably earned okay, Frankie a modest second income as someone often out of work and often selling nothing.

There were wage-slaves to their own credit card debt and extending frivolity.

I say all this as I keep seeing posts as if it’s new news that they weren’t literally flat broke.

Can we all just take this as accepted now and move onto some more interesting discussion?

As a mom to a young child, I just can't watch this anymore

I originally watched the show long before having a kid and found it funny. I tried rewatching it tonight and it just fills me with anxiety. The kids having a hard time at school, the parents not being able to catch up on their debt, the endless pile-up of things that go wrong, overdue deadlines, school projects, always being in a rush and yet perpetually late. It's like a nightmare... Anyone else?

Guys I'm so happy

Honestly I'm kinda introvert and I have no friends so I watch sitcoms... I have been through waiting for my results of clg and this period is miserable...just a pause of life . I found this amazing show ...I'm I'm about to finish it. I had no hope when I started watching.. nothing could beat friends , modern family, office for me..so I just thought let's give it a chance..and thank god I did...now this is one of the sitcoms I can count on for my rewatches...

And I love sue sue heck so much ♥️♥️ She was kinda annoying at first but as I come to an end..I relate to her so much...oh my heart..dear sue thank you for showing us if we are optimistic enough may be we can beat this negative world..so on and so forth and what have you.

Also I found a community here.. Happy to listen to your thoughts...just craving for good vibes💗🙌🥰

Brick's bed is a toddler bed!

As the mom of a toddler who has recently had to shop for one, I just realized while watching the Valentines Day episode thay Brick is STILL SLEEPING IN A TODDLER BED. Frankie and Mike piss me off so much sometimes.

Also, I'm freaked out by the way Frankie acts like she's dating Axl during that episode. I gives me the ick

Brick

He had OCD, the ticks were actually compulsions.I really feel silly for not realising it before. It’s my second rewatch. Could this be because of all the neglect? Whenever I feel abandoned it usually triggers my OCD too. Could there be a relation between the two?

I'm facing a "The Middle" dilemma - need your inputs

I've been watching this show, on repeat, ever since it first came out 17 years ago (Gosh, has it been that long?!!). I mainly got hooked to it because of my crush on Patricia Heaton, but I was also a fan of Neil Flynn from Scrubs.

And ever since my wife and I had our one and only child, a daughter born in 2015 - I can relate to this even more.

Over the years, I've realized that my daughter is a combination of both Sue and Brick. She can be very innocent and bit of a dork (i.e. Sue) but also display maturity and intelligence like Brick.

Oh and she loves reading books.

But something from Season 2, Episode 8 (Errand Boy) made me tear a bit because it's something my kid is going through.

"Friends" having secret conversations behind her back, excluding her from events, having picnics and not inviting her.

I'm not saying my kid is perfect. I've seen it first hand that she is to blame sometimes, but not warranted enough for her to be iced out.

And I always wanted to do what Mike did - Go and confront the parent whose kid is giving my kid a hard time.
But I've always chickened out. The 'Frankie' in me says - let it go, you can't solve this problem.

Question for all the parents on this sub - Was Mike right in doing what he did? Should we fight our kids battles? Will this make them tough or more lonely?

Also - are girls in the age group 9 and above really that mean?!! I mean, I've never had this problem with the guys growing up. But this is too much to deal with!

Young brick was funny and sort of relatable for Neurodivergent people, but as he got older, his character just became annoying.

Brick was one of my favorite characters in the earlier years of the show, but as he got older around season 7, his character just seemed to get a lot more annoying, and a bit unbearable at times. IMO he had the worst character development of the Heck family. It felt like at times he used his quirks as a “get out of jail free card” and was helpless and sort of seemed to be proud about being helpless. I can’t recall a single moment where he apologized or admitted he was wrong about it for something. The Disney episode is a huge example of this…he basically ruined their day and shuts it off and is just like “okay and?”
