Raising Seat Lock

Hey guys, I’ve been wanting to replace the stock seat on my 2024 Bonneville and I’ve gotten two aftermarket seats. Problem is I tend to always struggle getting the seat pin to mount onto the locking mechanism after sliding the brace under the tank. At first I thought it might just be the seats themselves but now I’ve come to realize that while the pin is lined up with the locking hole thing it won’t reach through far enough to click into place and that this could likely be fixed by raising the locking mechanism itself.
I’ve heard that putting washers under the plate to raise the mechanism so the seat pin can better reach the actual locking clamp is a valid strategy. Does anyone have experience with this? Would any type of washers work for this? Would I need new bolts as well?
Thanks!

Do the rear fenders matter?

Hey guys, I'm new to the sub and looking for advice. I recently bought a 2024 Triumph Bonneville and am loving it. I've always loved the cafe racer look and am not looking to do any major alterations but I did want to change the stock seat for that cafe racer look. I ordered the Motone Seat Fastback seat and was planning to install that instead of the brown stock one. My question is, I've noticed that most cafe racers shorten or remove the rear fender all together and am wondering if this is necessary for the seat to fit or if it's just a cosmetic thing. I would prefer to leave the rear fender as is but any advice would be greatly appreciated! (Very new to motorcycling in general so apologies for my ignorance.)
