Scotlands North Coast 500 - the most Dangerous Road in Britain?
I leave the huge beaches of Sands campsite in Gairloch on my Triumph Bonneville and ride south through the gorgeous highland scenery to try and beat the bad weather to the infamous Bealach na Ba pass, leading to Applecross. Hoping to meet my friend Rory on the way, but he has much further to come - will he beat the weather and make it up the pass on his Harley Davidson?
The Bealach na Ba used to be the route cattle would be driven between the villages of Tornapress and Applecross in Wester Ross. The pass itself is a single lane road, 11 miles long, and in the middle its hairpin bends climb from sea level to over 630 metres within 6km, creating gradients around 20%, and has the steepest ascent of the roads in the whole of the UK.
Adding upgrades to my Bonnie
This is my first Triumph. I have already posted a pic of her previously, but I wanted some of your opinions.
I bought these smaller saddle bags I thought the size did better on the smaller frame of the Bonnie T100, thoughts? Also what are some decent mods you think would look good?
2014 T100 Replace oil feed pipe
Does anyone have a photo with the oil feed pipe installed? This photo shows the area without the pipe. I am having a really hard time getting the pipe back in. Oil cooler is loose and the gas tank is also detached and setup back in this photo. Anybody have tips for getting it back in?
2025 Triumph Bobber | X-pipes / add-ons discontinued, or did I just buy at a bad time?
I recently bought a 25 Bobber and I’ve been looking around for some common add-on parts, especially exhaust-related components like an X-pipe / decat and similar accessories.
What I’m finding is that basically every reputable source (based on my searches), such as British Customs, Motone, and even a lot of their distributors are either showing parts as out of stock, not clearly listing 2025 fitment, or only listing fitment up through earlier model years.
I know the 2021+ / Euro 5 bikes changed some things, and I’ve seen references to certain bikes having welded mid-pipes vs clamp-style connections. For what it’s worth, I checked mine and it does have clamps, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is actually a compatibility issue, a supply-chain / inventory issue, or if some of these companies are just not making certain Bobber parts anymore.
Has anyone with a 2025 Bobber successfully found and installed an X-pipe or similar exhaust add-on recently?
A few specific questions:
- Are British Customs / Motone / Hitchcox parts for the Bobber being discontinued, or are they just temporarily out of stock?
- Are there 2025-specific fitment differences I should be watching for beyond the clamp vs welded-cat issue?
- Any vendors you’d recommend that are still actively supporting the newer Bobbers?
Not looking to start a legal/emissions debate, just trying to understand whether I bought at a weird time, or if aftermarket support for the newer Bobber is drying up.
Non-lockable Fuel Cap
I recently got a 2014 T100, and it has the standard fuel cap which can’t be locked.
Has anyone ever had any problems with that? I was thinking of replacing it, but I might just be paranoid.
I mean, who would either try and get fuel out or other stuff in?
Joining the triumph fam with a 2021 speed twin
Based out of Bay Area, CA. Bought a new to me 2021 Speed Twin with 5800 miles on it. Came with an Akro exhaust, ohlins shocks, Crafton seat and some other tasteful mods. Had a blast riding it home with the wind advisory today. Next steps: thinking of getting some evotech frame sliders and a Puig windscreen. Bike probably needs a tune at some point— I’m noticing minor fueling/throttle issues. Probably from the custom exhaust not being tuned properly?
I wish evotech was available more easily in the US. Bike oil was changed recently.
Anything I should know or do next?
The torque on this is incredible. Looking forward to learning how to ride this incredible machine properly.
Bike not starting
I have a 2012 t-100 and it’s not starting. It sat for too long and the gas went bad. The last time it started up fine, but died on the way down the block.
I have drained the tank and put in a gallon of fresh 93 octane
The spark plugs were black so I replaced them
We tested the fuel injectors and they are activating
The bike cranks but doesn’t fire.
This is the error code I get from scanning obd port P0122 — Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “A” Circuit Low
Has anyone run into a similar situation? Any advice for things to check next?
Lowered the Height on a 2001 Bonneville --Texavina Seat did the trick
Been riding a 2001 Bonneville for years (age says it all) but as the bike has aged 25 years, so has the driver. It was always a bit big for me, never minded, could kind of lean it to one side or the other. Over 65 now--that's not cozy to say the least.
Got a Texavina seat, lowered the boots on the ground height by 3 inches. Perfect.
I had the OG Triumph Seat on for years (never a complaint-long rides etc.) Is the Texavina firmer (yes), a bit less comfortable (yes). Is it working well in terms of being able to flat foot--so much better. Is it working well in terms of backing it out of parking spaces and the driveway--so much better.
Bonneville SE Suspension
Hi Gang,
I'm thinking of getting some new springs for the Bonnie (Front and back probably, but rear first for sure). Hagon seem to be the ones to go for but there is only 1 option - the cheapest - available on their SE page at the moment as opposed to the wealth of styles and colours for the spoked bonnevilles.
Question - is the £147 model an actual upgrade to the OEM shocks or do I need to look elsewhere. Square-deals have the YSS shocks (in a much less cool colour) for example at £250, but they would not be so customised as the Hagons.
Any thoughts?
(Is the front worth doing..?)
Is this a good deal?
New 2025 Bonneville Bobber Jetblack/Ash. It was allocated as a demo unit but never ridden the dealer is taking $2,000 off of the MSRP plus $750 cash back from Triumph
Why did my alarm/immobilizer indicator light turn on?
2016 Bonneville; I went for a glorious ride, parked the bike, and now I cannot for the life of me figure out how this function turned on and how the hell to turn it off. I am at a loss here! What am I doing wrong? I can't even turn the engine on, just the indicator lights come on.
Modding my T100 over the years
I've been making adjustments to my 2014 T100 since I've got it. Seems like a very long work in progress. Main things changed are:
- taillight (british customs)
- headlight bracket , turn indication relocation + key relocation
- suspension back (hagon nitro)
- suspension front (hagon progressive)
- tor exhaust
- heat wrap
- steering damper
- tracker bar (biltwell)
- torker grips (biltwell)
- bar end mirrors (motogadget)
- chain guard (british customs)
- flat gauge mount (motone)
- TTP performance tune (airbox adjust, o2 sensor removal)
- crankcase breather filter
- headlight grill (Raisch)
- stryke seat (alo's cafe)
Thinkig of swapping the footpegs for something else. Anything else you'd change? Note that I'm not a mechanic (so nothing too complicated) and ride in the rain (so while a tail tidy looks awesome, I just don't think it's practical).
Exhaust comparison - Stock vs British Customs Turn Out Performance Tips
I replaced the stock exhaust tips on my 2024 Speedmaster with British Customs Turn Out Performance Tips. No de-cat, just slip-ons.
2017 triumph Bonneville se chain
I have no paddock stand and the bike lacks a centre stand. How do I tighten the chain or is it just easier to take it to the mechanics and get it tightened?
OBD tool recommendations (UK)
Looking for any 1st-hand recommendations on ODB scanner/tools that will work for my bike (2017 Street Scrambler) and cars.
Want to be able to clear codes - after oil change / service icons etc.
Don’t mind too much between tools like in the picture, or those dongles that connect to your phone. I guess the tools are more reliable, but less upgradable.
I could do iPhone or Android, but prefer iPhone.
Fanks!
Odd Starting - Interlock or battery?
So having an issue starting which has repeated for the third time n not sure what to make of it. Bike is 2012 T100 EFI.
Battery is 8months old. Measured 13.3V running voltage yesterday which seems ok from searches.
Here's the startup sequence from today:
Battery on trickle charger overnight. Measured 13V today before trying to start.
Bike in neutral, kickstand down.
Turned key n "boot sequence" lights, pump etc all look/sound normal. Display shows bikes in neutral.
Pressed starter button and nothing happens like an interlock is stopping the starter motor from getting juice.
Next, like 30s later, don't move air anything but put kickstand up, press starter button n bike turns on.
In the past I've turned the bike on with KS down in neutral n have had no problems. Confused if this has to do with the KS interlock or other bc the battery seems ok from voltage. Any ideas? TIA
Custom Badge Test before Premium cast
Meet Mustang Sally (Thruxton 900, 2014). She's been my steady for 10 years. When i had a kid 3 years ago...I made a decision that this would be my bike for life (ie good luck trying to get a 1200R anytime soon).
So over the years, she's been getting little upgrades to keep things spicy. Well, this year i felt like it was time to get a new tank badge.
I got these proofs that i designed printed up. I also have a side panel Thruxton badge. Now I'm thinking of getting this design made in something more premium. Maybe enamel or 3D resin with an acrylic finish.
Any thoughts on how to get that done? Anyone with experience in getting custom badges done?
Worth buying it?
Hey there,
I’m looking to buy a Bonnie from 2013 with 45000 km… I’m wondering if you think its worth 4600€ or I should be looking for something with less miles on it.
It has a few scratches on it, but I am planning to change a few things anyway. Comes with 1 year warranty.
Do this bikes have something I should be careful with? Or is this the kind of bike that lasts a lifetime?
I need experienced users advice.
Thanks in advance
