New seat arrived for the Thruxton RS Ton Up
Loving the full Alcantara. I think I’ll use Alcantara more often than just on Ducati builds.

I’ve been at One Life Fitness North Frederick for a few years. Worked with a trainer at North for over three years and did some amazing things. Got me to run again for the first time in 25 years, lost almost 100lbs, learned some boxing and Muay Thai, kettlebells, HIIT and tons of strength training. I would have stayed with them forever.
Unfortunately they recently left and now I’m trying out a trainer at One Life South that is trained on completely different stuff and I think a totally different perspective will be good for me. My former trainer gave me so great of a basis to start and tons of skills and abilities I never had before. I definitely want to learn more, but I know this location just lacks what my family needs.
But they don’t have a pool (my spouse swims) and no sauna. I had been closing out every session at North with 20-25 in the sauna for a long time. I know I could just go to North on my days I don’t work with her at South, but that feels less convenient and its going to make me feel like I only go to South for the trainer, not the gym.
So it got me wondering what other gyms are any good and the quality of the trainers and what skillsets they might have. I’m hoping others that might have an awesome gym could give feedback. I’m on a four days a week rotation and I’m in there for a solid two hours including stretching warmup, cooldown, cardio and sauna when available. I have dedicated leg/glutes days and dedicated upper body days. That kind of stuff can be done anywhere, so I’m looking at the secondary amenities like sauna, pool.
Also cleanliness and maturity of members to rerack equipment also matters.
Doesn’t HAVE to be in Frederick but I ride a motorcycle in the warm months and if I have to ride in the rain for 30 minutes, I’ll lose the drive to even go at all.
Help out a gal and give some feedback!
Thank you!
Both my bikes. The red R, I’ve owned for a decade now and 20k miles. Basically nothing is stock anymore, not even the paint. The blue RS I just purchased a few weeks ago secondhand with 6k miles. It was fully stock a few weeks ago. I decided to throw basically everything at it in record time because I always loved the Aegean blue color and the first owner made the right choice and it already had the matching fairing on it.
I’ve had my Thruxton R for about a decade now and we’ve done 20k miles together before I started to buy other bikes and it eventually became the beloved bike that I rode less and less. I was too enamored with my Ducati SportClassics and it just sat. Can’t entirely fault that because they are great too.
Three years ago I decided to refresh it and repaint it the Ferarri color of Rosso Scudiera. Then it cascaded into upgrading the calipers and master cylinder, then next thing I knew, I was upgrading everything. It now rarely gets ridden and mostly sits on a paddock stand because it’s wha got me through cancer and I want to keep it nice now because of our history.
I bought the Thruxton RS Ton Up to be the successor and new daily rider. I enjoy it a lot, and I love the Aegean Blue. It’s been my daily rider and it’s been great.
I took the Thruxton R out of my office for the first time in about a year and not gonna lie, I teared up and then had a big smile on my face as I attacked a nice sweeping corner. I rode them back to back, and yes the RS has more midrange and top end, but there’s something about the R that just feels like “home”.
If the weather holds out, it’s British bike day at my local Bikes and Breakfast tomorrow. I’m definitely riding my old R and my other half can take the RS. Newer isn’t always better when emotions and history get factored in.
I know they aren’t for everyone, but the red Thruxton R will be the last one to go when I give up motorcycles in like 40 years.
I know they went out of style, but something still draws me to them. At the same time, so does a new Panigale.
I just finished a round of upgrades and stuff on this Thruxton RS Ton Up and I dunno, it just is my vibe. Factory cafe racers lightly breathed upon and other related retros always make my heart flutter when I see a cool one.
It always feels like I’m on this beautifully designed modern tribute to the motorcycles that moved a generation and were part of a post-war youth movement. They do that while being a ripe platform to tweak into a quick hot rod that also loves to boogie in the corners, starts up every time and stops on a dime.
I also sort of appreciate the sportbike ergonomics. To be able to ride such a beautiful beast exacts a toll, and that toll is that you have to be young or physically fit to gel with one.
I also have a few other cafe/retro racer, retro standard, scrambler and bobber and they’re all cool, but cafes are tops for me.
Also please be kind and not hateful towards my bike if it’s not your style. I am a human and have feelings.
All that’s left is to install a European switchcube to control the DRLs, upgrade the headlight assembly with a custom headlight from Dapper Lighting mated to a headlight adapter ring, install a carbon fiber headlight bucket, install some Sato Racing Rearsets, install the new lithium battery and remove the secondary air injection to be rid of the deceleration afterfire.
Then the final decision will be how to integrate some Aegean Blue on the rear cowl and front fender so they feel more cohesive to the Ton Up vibe.
I’ve had multiple prior boxers, and had a ‘21 RS but had it in full touring daddy spec, but wow a modded RS with no cases, no touring stuff can really lean nicely into the sporty side of things.
Unless the 1300RS gets an absolutely smoking livery or a true ///M version, I have a feeling I’ll be keeping this one around for a while. It’s just good at everything and after a solid 20lb weight loss and Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4’s (and R1250R forks) and Ohlins steering damper, it just falls so beautifully into corners.
I know I’ve shared it before, but I’ve owned it for two years and only recently have really been enjoying it.
It’s finally done and looking awesome on the new Alpina tubeless forged lightweight wheels and Rosso 4’s. Obviously inspired by the HP2 Sport.
I’ve never seen a cool looking R1250RS in the decade it was in production. They were always in full touring grandpa mode, and never a single seater with aggressive ergos. I know the R1300RS has improved it, but it wasn’t in production two years ago when I started this one. Hell I took new delivery of it this month two years ago.
Lots of mods over the last two years, but the wheels were the final piece.
Main stuff:
2024 R1250RS Sport with every Option 719 Classic option and fully loaded.
Conversion to Monoposto (US Monopostos are zero option bikes, so I ordered it loaded then converted later)
Analog Motorcycles pod front turn signals
New Rage Cycles tail tidy
Puig fairing mirror delete blanking plates
WRS Sport windscreen
R&G exhaust hanger
Raximo tricolor shorty levers
Puig Blue anodized reservoirs
Wunderlich Monoposto Sport seat
Full titanium catless headers, shortened to tuck the slip-on closer and lower
Leo Vince Euro-4 titanium slip-on
Velocity stacks
Stage 2 DNA Filter
BT-Moto Tune
Brembo M4.34 calipers
Sato Rearsets
R1250R forks
S1000RR fender
CRG Arrow Mirrors
You might think it sucks, but I like it and it was cool to make a traditionally uncool and forgotten boxer model turn into a standout.

It’s been a long and weird journey, but it’s finally done - after the new master link shows up.
It’s been a weird journey, but I think it’s done. Well, done after the new master link shows up from Revzilla.
Not every day is awesome or special, but today felt like one of those memorable kind of days. Washing all the bikes, doing light maintenance and making memories with my spouse. I cant ask for much more than that. I hope all of you had a day that also made you feel blessed.
I wanted to get one of these back in 2022 but at the time I was in the middle of building a 2022 Speed Twin 1200 and a 2022 Aluminum R NineT. Both builds have long since been wrapped up, but I have always been a little bummed that I missed out on getting a Ton Up.
I got a Chrome Edition Thruxton RS the next year but never really vibed with it.
It always seemed like people hated these and didn’t like them when they came out because they don’t come with a fairing by default. The white fender and cowl just didn’t work.
Add an Aegean Blue fairing and suddenly it’s perfect.
I picked this one up second hand over the weekend and tossed on some stuff I had laying around from prior Thruxton builds, including a swap to a spare set of Thruxton R polished wheels that really brightened up the look.
Full exhaust, SAI delete, air filter and tuning on the way, and now that I know the bright wheels really change the look for the better, a set of brushed Kineo wheels from my Speed Twin are getting swapped over.
The prior owner was using it to do touring so it had high clips and saddlebags on it, and I have taken them off and ordered some low clip-ons to go with some Sato Rearsets.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
Glad to make the final payment today. Hard to believe that it was more than my R1250RS after ticking every option when I originally configured it at 25.4k
I definitely never see any others on the road.
I really love having a rare/oddball end of generation boxer.
I’ve actually never seen another with the full Monoposto Sport setup and I had to special order mine here in the US since it wasn’t available as a Monoposto unless it was a base with no options.
It really rips too with full titanium exhaust, velocity stacks, stage 2 filter and a tune. Top end really wakes up. Also got tons of other mods like R1250R forks, Brembo M4.34’s and custom Alpina wheels in a box yet to be installed.
Yep, I’m one of them weirdos that sticks motorcycles in their house when they run out of room.
This thing has sat indoors too long (18 months!) and it’s time to go back to where it belongs - actually being used.
Tires aired up, chain checked. Gas is in poor shape, time to burn up some bad E10 and hit the road!
Just sharing a very slow build on my Thruxton RS. It originally started life as a Chrome Collection bike with a chrome fuel tank.
The upkeep on that is truly awful, it always felt kinda dangerous on the road, and I hated how the fairing looked with a chrome wrap against an actual chrome tank.
I didn’t want to hate the bike, so I decided to take the tank off and switched to a regular painted one so I could eventually paint the entire bike.
I don’t entirely hate using this older factory color from the Thruxton R, so at least until I get bored with it, it’s Silver Ice for now.
Mods are VanDemon exhaust and air filter. Looking for recommendations before I finally get around to installing my parts.
Please and thank you.
My spouse’s BMW R1250RT-Police and my Triumph Thruxton RS at the gym this morning.
She loves having a modded cop bike in the wild. Has titanium headers and Remus exhaust on it along with tuning.
