I need to remove the rear brake lever off of this '76 T140V in order to get to the right footrest for replacement. I removed the nut on the pivot joint, but cannot pull the lever off of it's square socket.

WD-40 and lightly hammering with a mallet to the spindle have not helped so far.

Any ideas?
