How fast is the scheme being filled?

Does anyone know how many spaces are still available?

I'd rather be with BankAust for a few reasons, but they need me to be employed longer on my casual contract to count the income. I'm torn between waiting to pass that milestone and applying with CommBank when I pass the CommBank requirements next week. Basically I'm suuuuper stressed about the possibility of the scheme running out of spots before I can apply with Bank Aust - should I just go for what I can get immediately?

CT scan prior to DMT

Has anyone else had a CT scan (Circle of Willis) prior to their first DMT treatment?

My husband is newly diagnosed and has been sent a letter from the hospital booking him in for a CT scan just a few days before he goes in for his first rituximab infusion.

On his MRI there was a radiologist comment about potential blood stains, which the neuro said she would investigate but also "don't worry about it because the radiologists overreport rather than underreport so it may be nothing". Is the CT scan likely to be related to that? Not to sound too panicky but how panicked should I be??

Are there contraindications for rituximab that they need to check for before starting treatment? Or is this just a normal thing and I'm overthinking it?

Are there patterns of progression?

Hi all,

My partner (37M) was recently diagnosed with MS, potentially PPMS but the neuro is not totally sure on that. It seems like everyone's experience is pretty different, but are there expected patterns of disease progression?

What I mean is, given that he has difficulty with one leg, should we expect that it will extend to both legs, or to the rest of that side of his body or extend to movement in general? Given that he has diplopia, do we expect his vision to be more affected as time goes on?

He currently has no issues with fatigue or heat or spasticity/cramping. If he manages to avoid new lesions (starting DMT soon) is it still likely that they will start in the future, despite being unrelated to his current symptoms?

In general, are there specific symptoms that generally indicate other symptoms will crop up, or is that not really how it works?

These are of course Qs we can ask his neuro but the list of things to ask her is getting long and right now the main focus is on starting treatment, so I thought I'd check here first.

TIA

Help to Buy + retained savings

Hi all,

I'm looking at using the Help to Buy scheme and I have two related questions for anyone who has used it.

  1. What amount of savings were you allowed to keep after contributing the maximum reasonable deposit?
  2. What level of mortgage repayments did they consider reasonable? Like, did they factor in potential rate rises? How much are you allowed to save vs having all your income directed to the mortgage or bills?

I'm super stressed at the idea of buying a property without being able to retain enough savings for if something goes wrong with the house and then my car breaks down before I've had time to build up some reserve savings again.

I've literally always had savings since I got my first job and I don't wanna live without a buffer! I mean, the scheme is for low income earners, they don't want to leave us without a safety net, right?

TIA for anyone who shares their experiences <3

How to do tax after leaving Germany

Hi, I'm sure someone else has asked this because it must happen constantly, but I cannot find it sorry.

I left Germany in Nov 2025 after 3 years. During that time I worked and paid tax and lodged my tax returns on Elster. I have now got an error message when trying to submit my tax return for 2025. The error message is:

Zu ihrer verwendeten Identifikationsnummber [x] ist für die Steuernummer [y] keine pflegende Stelle gespeichert.

I'm assuming this is because I left the country and no local office has me in their system any more? If so, how do I handle this? Do I just print the paperwork out and post it to the Finanzamt where I used to live (or will they just throw it out?)

Has anyone done this successfully? I made an enquiry in Elster a few weeks ago, trying to change my address to my current one in Australia, but I haven't heard anything back so that is also stressful.

TIA <3

PPMS in Australia

Hi all,

My partner (37M) is in the zone between probable diagnosis and first neuro appointment. Based on MRI and history the hospital doctor told him that it looks like MS but they will do a lumbar puncture to confirm. He's never had what I would call a flare so it seems like PPMS to me.

Are there any other Aussies out there with PPMS who can tell me what to expect treatment-wise? It seems like Ocrevus is the only approved option, but it's not on the PBS, so are you all paying the full price out of pocket? Or in reality are most PPMS patients in clinical trials, or not on a DMT at all, or?

I'd like to have some concept of the norms when going into the neuro appointment...

Thank you <3 (Sorry mods if this is the wrong flair!)
