
It’s interesting to see how children of Gilead were desensitised to violence rather than fearing it
We see this in the latest episode where Becka stabs her “father” to death. She doesn’t even look remotely phased, as apposed to someone like Emily who had a panic attack after trying to murder Aunt Lydia. In both cases, the victim deserved the punishment, although there’s a stark difference between each of their reactions. Obviously someone from before Gilead wouldn’t be as used to murder as someone akin to Hannah or maybe even Nichole if she stayed in Gilead, but it still interesting nevertheless. Becka seemed sort of curious and intrigued as to what sounds were made when stabbing her father; like pulling your hand out of mud, she described it. Very interesting…
