The way Mitski plays guitar is so satisfyingly awful she needs to start doing it again

Like not trying to be mean but Mitski is egregiously sloppy at guitar, but honestly she pulls it off and it adds a lot of charm to her songs that even the studio versions don’t fully convey (patrick plays the guitar in a way that sounds bad on purpose and it sounds annoying, no offence to him (more noticeable in the live versions though). Especially with really thrash-heavy songs like My Body’s Made of Crushed Little Star, Townie, I Don’t Smoke; and my favourite, Cop Car. It just sounds so desperate like she’s trying to get her point across while ultimately failing but still trying over and over again. This is very prevalent in the solo versions of First Love/Late Spring, I Want You and I Will. Not only does the shakiness in her voice present anxiety but the brashness and uncoordinated playing of the guitar gives such a great introspection into already amazingly written songs. What were once somewhat calm, quiet tunes now sound arrantly wobbly; and that’s so satisfying to me.

Can we talk about how dark some of Mitski’s songs are? For example, Crack Baby is about a baby who’s mother was addicted to cocaine while pregnant; and after being born goes through extreme withdrawal and not knowing what’s going on

Why does no one ever talk about Casey, Callan and Patrick?

Omg cuz Callan is my favourite of Mitski’s bandmates but no one talks about her

Every time someone says Nicole has no morals in reference to the flip side even though it was very clear that sbn3 flanderized their characters on purpose, an angel dies…

I’m still under the belief that Class of '09 and the Re-up were ghost written because the flip side was genuinely just a mess… And before you guy say “Oh!! Perspectives!!!” Different perspectives don’t automatically make you sound better or worse, they just make you think you sound better or worse. So no, Nicole almost exclusively being bad faith in the flop side isn’t accurate and it never will be.

It’s interesting to see how children of Gilead were desensitised to violence rather than fearing it

We see this in the latest episode where Becka stabs her “father” to death. She doesn’t even look remotely phased, as apposed to someone like Emily who had a panic attack after trying to murder Aunt Lydia. In both cases, the victim deserved the punishment, although there’s a stark difference between each of their reactions. Obviously someone from before Gilead wouldn’t be as used to murder as someone akin to Hannah or maybe even Nichole if she stayed in Gilead, but it still interesting nevertheless. Becka seemed sort of curious and intrigued as to what sounds were made when stabbing her father; like pulling your hand out of mud, she described it. Very interesting…

Mind you, Serena coerced Nick into having sex with June and forced June to have sex with Nick.

She literally raped both of them. I’m genuinely pissed off when people try to redeem her character or give her sympathy. Same with Aunt Lydia, in fact she’s the worse. My next post is going to be about her cuz she does not deserve any of the praise she gets. The show version of her anyway. Shoutout to Ann Dow, she genuinely managed to piss me off.

Blessed be the yuri. May the wlw open.

Hannah and Becka’s relationship is genuinely so complicated and sad. I prefer them so much over Garth and Hannah, and god forbid S3r3n4 and June. Who even ships them??? Like that’s really weird… I’m really loving the dynamic between them so far, Hannah getting jealous of Becka for being pared with Garth is just such a smart choice on the writers part
