I've been wondering about this lately. Brands like boAt sell millions of earbuds and headphones, even though most audio enthusiasts don't consider them particularly impressive.

Is the average buyer simply looking for something affordable, decent-sounding and convenient, rather than caring about IEMs, tuning, codecs, etc.?

Would love to hear what people here think especially from people who actually know their audio.
