I’ve been trying to gentle wean, don’t ask, don’t offer etc, for months, and *she knows*. If I gently try to remove a feeding, she demands 2. I’ve literally doubled the number of feedings since I started trying to wean her.
I tried to wean cold turkey last night. It worked for my son, but not this girl. I told her no more milk. She did reasonably ok until bedtime. *Nothing* comforts her for long, except 1. watching Super Simple Songs, but she won’t fall asleep with the TV on, 2. Sometimes I can bounce her and rock her like a baby and she’ll fall asleep, but I’m not physically fit enough to swing 20 lbs back and forth while walking, bouncing, and singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for over an hour.
Having Daddy do bedtime doesn’t work either. I have to work evenings sometimes and she screams until I get home. (I do honestly think my husband could try a little harder to help find something that works… but that’s not something I have any control over)
So here’s the rub… I have a business trip at the end of the month and will be gone for 4 days. I think it would be easier on everyone if I weaned her before I went, and I also really don’t want to have to worry about engorgement away from home. But this feels hopeless.
