Just announced by GKIDS, coming 9/8!
Truly a beautiful movie. So glad it's finally getting a physical release here (up until now you either had to import or watch it on Amazon).
I decided to get into anime bluray collecting not too long ago and have tried handpicking some of my favourite shows and movies as well as a couple of cheap pick ups from second hand stores (for example lu over the wall) and so far this is what i have in the collection. The boxset with japanese spines is the complete miyazaki studio ghibli set imported from japan and as far as all of my investigations went it seems to be legit, everything else i know is 100% official.
Let me know what you think of the collection!
Got these two for a decent price $40 USD for the both of them
I know basically every US release of GitS has that Passengers song, but every so often I see a comment pop up that says the 25th Anniversary Edition accidentally (!?) ended up with Reincarnation for the end credits.
It's such a small, niche "issue", I really can't find a straight answer anywhere to disprove it. But, this is a community of people who collect this stuff, so I'm hoping someone here owns this version and can confirm what the song is that plays for the end credits.
I've heard this version also apparently has terrible subtitles so, not sure it's worth it either way but, if it DOES somehow have Reincarnation for the end credits... I'm at least interested to know :p
And yes i do consider this a anime movie sense it was animated by Toei Animation
Just a FYI Sentai has another sale at the moment and a selection of 20/30 titles at 1.99-3.99 USD then a lot more at 14.99 and 19.99. I’m sure a lot know already but it’s worth checking out if you have the bargain bin priced blu rays already or not.
But with companies pushing for everything to be digital, I'm happy with growing my collection.
A good amount of my collection is secondhand from thrift stores and friends destashing their collections, so some of the sets don't match each other and I'm still building out some incomplete series. Still, I'm pretty happy with the titles I have!
I got more serious about collecting when I bought my Baccano set at a Funimation convention booth, and then within six months Funimation lost the license and it became impossible to find without pirating. I focus on titles that I would still want to be able to watch if their licenses fell through the cracks, then I'm opportunistic with whatever I can find while thrifting.
Death note is in reverse numerical order because my friend gave their set to me taped together into a block, and I haven't gone in and removed the tape yet. The blank blu-ray case next to Mushishi is the first MHA blu-ray. Also not visible in these photos but something I'm very proud of is the fact that some of them have been signed by members of the English dub cast!
I enjoyed it so much I Immediately went to Walmart.com and bought it.
Newest pick ups for my collection

I was pulling so,r of my collection out of storage and reorganizing and found these.
Has anyone else been experiencing a decrease in quality from blu ray releases? It’s been getting worse for me over this last year but almost 1 in 3 blu rays I receive even factory sealed has had fingerprints and scratching on the back of the disc. I’m not sure if I’m just getting unlucky or if this has just started being the norm for other people as well. It hasn’t been an issue for any of my collector’s editions and my more expensive sets like fate from Aniplex have been great but anything standard edition has been a toss up.
Mixture between authentic, homemade, and bootleg (especially for Precure since it’s very hard to find that on DVD with English subs, but I’ve gotten lucky with a few of the official Japanese dvd and blu ray releases lol, and majority of the other bootlegs I’ve found were from local stores and libraries)
