Description

The electronic music box plays both Eternal Snow and New Future

Left button plays Eternal Snow and right plays New Future. They each play for quite some time! I recorded both and it’s about 5 minutes cumulatively, so you get a good-sized sample of the songs in an orgel rendition. They worked with Remember in Melody for the arrangements~

The twirling crystals are held via magnet to the box top, which is a mirror. They do kinda leave smudge trails, so you get a circle smudge after some playback 😆

There’s a drawer slide where you could separately purchase a key. The drawer can slide out sans key, but it helps pull it out by catching in the hole. There’s no actual lock mechanism though. It uses 3 AAA batteries for power.

The bright gilded-looking purple top is an electroplating effect, which makes it super shiny and slick but also a fingerprint magnet 😂 The rest of the body is a light pearl pink~ The top color scheme is a little different from the show design, but I wonder if a two toned top would’ve been too costly (separate parts etc), or maybe it would’ve looked too similar to the older Japanese release. Who’s to say 🤷

It also came with a lenticular card depending on the box design: Reaper Set or Full Moon Set. Mine is the Reaper Set, so my lenticular is Meroko / Takuto. There were also some additional addons depending on tiers/pre-orders etc., including the Full Moon lenticular~

The set also came with stickers since the original design has stars on the dome, but I won’t be putting em on myself.

I saw a video comparison with the OG Japanese release and this one is more compact and the slight top design diffs. And ofc the JP one (past being like thousands of dollars) also has a fortune telling feature. Still this one does me just fine~

Per their first volume they've kept the design consistent with a main cover art on a dust jacked and an obi as well. It's probably the same for the first volume but I noticed you can definitely see the layer of ink for the cover art which doesn't do much texture wise but still does make it pop more

Since the LE doesn't have a slip took the opportunity to take pics of it, shame when the cover insert is the same tho 😔 Historically CR had usually done no slip if the LE came with unique cover insert but this set is just the standard chucked in sans slipcover (the upc is the same as the standard too). A bit annoyed since they advertised the set with the slip art but it's just a key visual so not much missing out

The outbox is a nice foilish holo in line with the past LE designs.

Amaray cover art does have designs on both sides. Shame they didn't give us the full art used on the cover. If the illustration on the full volume storage box which you'd get for buying all the japanese volumes.

All the extras are chucked inside the extras box. They include three keychains, a booklet (contains character profiles, setting, object etc materials, keyframes, and promo art), art cards with the japanese release volume art by LN artist Shinichirou Otsuka and also art cards of the key visuals and last a sticker sheet!

Well... anywayss scrolling through to see what I missed OMG (literally said this out loud). Dog of Flanders 😭😭😭 THIS MOVIE IS MY CHILDHOOD! Idk what it was about it but somehow little nello struggling how he was really resonated with me as a child! I would always bawl my eyes out at the end 😭😭

Post viewing the whole thread I literally ran over to my little ole DoF collection to make this post 🤣

The amount of effort I went through to track this film down when I became a (I'd say true collector than hobbyist) collector about 6ish years ago and realized it had a physical~ Hopefully more WMT does well and we can get the series!!

What I have in the picture is the DVD set, a BOOTLEG of the Taiwan release (Taiwan release, at least the split version, has English subtitles! I got duped with this bootleg of the compilation release off mercari japan soo it's just stayed here until I get the official release lol it doesn't even have subs (Another ignorance on my part IDEK they did japan facing boots since I believe this specific boot is targeted towards Japan folks as japanese langauge only release even though it's supposed to have CN dub and CN/EN subs as well) and as you can imagine the series quality is just awful since they stuff 50+ eps across two discs...) And two VHS of the film! The VHS is (well was now with the AE release 😂) the only uncut version release. The film went through some edits with the effect toning down certain scenes / and iirc one scene was just missing entirely. Idk if my 5 year old heart coulda handles that tbh buttt not to get onto a whole thing that is localization ahah Anyways I knew I definitely needed both versions~

As for why I have two, well the story behind that one is it was the first one I'd bought and little old newb collector me didn't realize that you had to ask that the VHS actually worked... I've learned my lesson with older media formats now... (Or maybe that seller was on something idk when I messaged him about the fact I could only watch maybe 5% of the screen he just replied that I never asked if it played...😭) I never ended up selling and it was kinda a cute memory of collecting soo I've kept it the whole time~

Anywaysss a fellow collector in one of the discords I'm in happened to have an extra copy that worked and sold me his extraaa and then finally circa 20 years later I watched the film subbed and uncut for the first time in it's entirety on a tiny maybe 8 inch mini CRT TV with a built in VCR (which we still use to this day though my sister has it since they have a bunch more retro game systems to use it for)

Anyways I'm just soo stokeddd and felt like ever since they announced their ruined childhood line this IP would be such a shoe-in for it~

Now maybe we'll get the full TV series and I can be rid of that bootleg and end my search for the still yet evasive white whale Taiwan sets 🤣
