What’s your current mat situation?

I thought deciding on an enclosure and a launch monitor would be the hard decision here, but turns out that picking out a hitting mat/strip is going to be the death of me.

I have a budget of about $1000. Ideally, I would like one that translates well to actual course numbers; if I carry a 7i 160 in the sim , I’d like to expect somewhere in that ballpark at a course, though I’m not sure if that’s even realistic. Also whatever mat is better for injury prevention, doesn’t necessarily have to be the best.

I like the FiberBuilt Grass series, but not sure about having the ball “tee’d up” on every shot. But I suppose one could use the non-hitting strip portion? Although not sure how that feels.

Getting a lot of ads for Country Club Elite. Looks great, but have read some mixed reviews; some saying it’s harsh, some saying it’s the greatest budget mat ever.

Recently came across the Carls Hotshot Gel mat. Can’t find too many details on it, but some concerns were regarding gel inserts wearing out within a year.

Sig Softy… seems to be a common go-to? Sounds like there’s an indent that develops in the strip after a couple of months of use. Does this affect anything?

Any other suggestions.

Carport Sim?

Anybody ever use one of these carports as your enclosure? I’m on a tight budget and saw this thing at Costco for $300. My only other options are put it in my low 8 foot ceiling garage, or just set up and take down outside every day I plan on using it.

Huge distance gap.

I haven’t had a chance to take a swing video for analysis, but here’s what I have going on.

I use a GC3 to get my carry distances: I hit my 7i 155-160 on average, off the deck. My 6i averages 180-183, give or take a couple of yards. What’s a likely cause for this? It shouldn’t be normal to have a gap that wide, right? Clubs are Titleist T250, standard loft

FSX on iMac?

Here are the specs, it’s an Intel based iMac. I’d install Windows via BootCamp.

27-inch (diagonal) 16:9 widescreen LED-backlit Retina
5K display; 5120 by 2880 pixels; ambient light sensor
• 3.1GHz 6-core Intel Core i5 with 12MB shared L3 cache (Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz)
• 8GB of 2666MHz DDR4 memory; supports up to 128GB
• 256GB SSD
•Radeon Pro 5300 with 4GB of VRAM

I know I can upgrade the RAM, but how’s everything else? I’ve heard FSX can’t even play on AMD GPU? I’m trying to avoid having to buy another computer, and this is just sitting around gathering dust. So if I can make it work, that would be ideal.

How the heck to get FSX Pro on iPad?

I just purchased a Launch Pro, I’m currently on the 14 day gold trial. My foresight account says no subscription, so I’m a little confused about that. I also click all of the links for the FSX Pro app, get an email with a link, but it says the app isn’t available in my region, which is the USA. I have the Foresight Sports app, and all I see is shot analysis, drill library, and range.

Are you even able to play courses while using the iPad?

GC3 vs Eye Mini

Recently finished my hitting area and now just need to settle on a launch monitor. I was initially leaning heavily towards the GC3, but I recently started looking into the Eye Mini, but don’t really see recent comparisons. I’ve seen that the Eye Mini had some inconsistent data issues, but didn’t see if it was fixed or not.

I would get an overhead unit, but I do want something I can take with me to the grass range as well, so that’s huge.

What do you use during exercise?

For my runners that carry on runs, what do y’all use? I was using a simple Amazon chest rig with my P238, and it works okay, just looking for other suggestions.

Made the switch to AMOLED….

Was contemplating staying with the MIP display, but y’all made me curious about the AMOLED models. Must say, it’s much nicer indoors, and it’s perfectly readable outdoors too. Most of my workouts are in low lighting, so this should be a nice change.

Appreciate all of your guys’ feedback and recommendations!

Any regrets going AMOLED instead of MIP?

My 6 pro recently crapped out on me and I’ve eyeballed the Fenix 8, but the dilemma is the obvious MIP vs AMOLED. Don’t really care too much about solar, so that parts negligible. Anybody that’s made the transition from MIP to AMOLED have any regrets? AMOLED to MIP?
