Thank you to everyone that answered my first question.

The general consensus is that the sporran is your only "pocket" and utility style Kilts are the work of Satan.

My second question is "sporran chain or sporran straps?" Is one more formal than the other? Is it a matter of taste? Is it just personal preference?

I have lots of questions but I'll ask the most important one first.

How do you deal with no pockets? Do you just cram all your shit into your sporran? I've only worn a great kilt at renaissance festivals where no one bats an eye at having a sporran plus a few pouches on your belt and maybe a "satchel" (it's not a purse, it's a utility bag).

I've recently bought a modern kilt that I'd like to start wearing occasionally but I can't see how a day sporran can handle all the stuff that I usually carry distributed among my pants pockets.

How do you view bands like Knorkator?

I'm an American that lived in Germany as a child. I frequently listen to German music because I rarely get the opportunity to practice speaking German (mostly Neue Deutsche Härte, some industrial). I've recently found some new-to-me bands like Knorkator, The Butcher Sisters and WBTBWB. They're talented, but are they seen as legit musicians. Or are they viewed more as novelty acts like we see Weird Al, or Lonely Island or Flight of the Conchords?
