Are there any robot/mech game with gameplay like XCOM?

Used shit post because there´s no game like XCOM flair.

Love the mechs you have at your disposal in XCOM 2, are there any games that solely focus on robots/mechs and have a gameplay similar to XCOM?

saludos no cordiales

Why I kept burning out in my friendships (and the hard truth I had to accept).

Hi all

Wanted to write this down in case it might help someone with this mindset, which I believe is very hard to find the root of (at least in my case).

I've always been a more mental person, laidback, pretty chill, and don't find issues talking to people and actually making them care about me; a funny detail is that in many groups I´ve been a part of always end up gifting me food (chips, half-eaten lunches that ppl didn't want to waste, cookies, that kind of thing).

I mention this as an example of being able to create good rapport, but eventually my relationships always felt really taxing to me. People complained about the same issues (not liking bf/gf because they don't read ur mind kind of thing, bro always says he's going to start his business... never does, friend unhappy where they are at, but does nothing to actually change course).

Relationships eventually hit a wall because I got tired of hearing the same things, always tried to help them with whatever they mentioned to me, and I always got frustrated that things didn't change and now I'm stuck hearing the same things AGAIN.

Always thought maybe I'm just not going to the right crowds, until I realized that I was maybe being a bit too defensive, aggressive maybe; my background is a place where oil/oil rigs is big, so where I grew up the environment was pretty rough, learned early you needed to be a bit of a dick for people to give you your place.

I have made good progress on that front, but my problem persisted, so I've been thinking & thinking about this, remembered some of the situations where I just got tired and eventually just ghosted people.

I realized I was very good at socializing but not at the whole thing; thanks to a great convo with my gf I was able to connect that I'm not doing anything to maintain the relationships.

What do I mean? I'm there for the parties, dinners, travels, and at first your issues; when you reached out to me about the same thing for the 4th time I was DONE.

Never crossed my mind people just needed to vent, I was forcing myself to give them a solution, got pissed when they didn't follow it (even when they didn't really ask for my take). Always thought people should know I'm the friend you go to when you want help with something, but I realized I was not really there with you, I was just instructing or telling people what to do.

People STILL wanted to hang out with me sometimes, but I eventually just cut them off, no issues with that either on my part.

I realized I didn't really exercise caring correctly.

I'm now working on thinking of other people in a way I didn't before, this has made me able to actually realize that I was a pretty shitty friend too lol. I'm being more conscious of people and finding that my fatigue came from not understanding that caring about people also means doing actions to maintain that friendship, not just do fun things together.

The Council consensus? (pausible leaders or poorly written)

I'm currently replaying Mass Effect 1 (what a gem), and I used to feel that the Council was simply incompetent and not taking the Reaper threat more seriously. However, in this playthrough, I’m having a change of heart.

Has anyone else changed their perspective on the Council given today's real-world politics & the state of the galaxy in ME1?

Back then, I couldn’t believe leaders could be so evasive and negligent regarding the Reaper threat. But now, damn—I view the Council's actions with more understanding. They had a gazillion planets and complex politics to manage. Plus, they couldn’t easily grant us a helping hand without Cerberus taking advantage of their influence in the Alliance, right?

How could the Council give that many resources to a race with such a well-known extremist organization aiming for human supremacy?

With that in mind, I managed to convince myself that they were actually helpful enough, and had too many downsides to extend more help to Shepard without risking wider galactic stability by appearing too pro-human.

Am I deluding myself or do I actually have a good point?

(Have not read any books, just played the games like a madman 5 years ago and currently picking the game back up)

Why does no other game leave a void quite like Mass Effect?"

Myself as many people felt a real void when Mass Effect 3 ended, I was just sad I won´t be able to see this characters anymore and it felt like the characters had some many more things to do now that the reaper threat was no more.

Bioware had something with the characters they created here that made them feel alive like no other game to me.

As a side note I´m really sad to see Mass Effect in it´s state knowing that this franchise could have been something so much bigger (more game genres, more games with different themes). I have hopes the new game is going to be something positive.

Going back again, I´m not able to really pinpoint why these characters are the only ones I really miss that I´m not able to know how their stories continue.

Curious to see what y´all think.
