I just got done setting up VLC to play Blu-ray on a family member's laptop and PC. I had to install an old version of Java 8 to get it to access the Blu-ray menus.

I'm worried about them having that old of a version installed, so I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to have only VLC use it while a current version is used by Windows 10 on the laptop (and Windows 11 on the PC) for everything else.

I've tried looking this up, and the suggestions are honestly beyond me. I'm not super tech savvy and have no idea how to make .bat files or what it means to assign different PATH values. The owner of the laptop is even less experienced than I am...

Can anyone spell out (at an ELI5 level) how I would this in a way that not only my dummy brain can handle setting up, but my relative with even less experience can use reliably?

I recently started playing on PC (got the game free on Epic Games years back, finally playing).

I'm having an issue where when my magazine hits empty, and I pull the trigger again, either I can't shoot ever again, even though magazine shows it's full, or it just keeps shooting without me touching anything. The state continues, even if I switch weapons and regardless of which weapon I was using when the glitch started.

The only "fix" is to quit that run and start over.

I'm playing using a PS5 controller by launching Epic through Steam, but I can't find any mention of anyone else having this problem with that setup.

Any ideas?

Everything I read says the Dr Tokui mission should be available for all versions of the game. I bought the PS4/PS5 Ultimate Edition digital download, am currently playing the PS4 version, and absolutely cannot find any of the tapes. I can only find the "Dr. Tokui Investigation" report.

I see the reel-to-reel player next to pod 4, but no tapes in Rituals Office or HRA and no "Dr. Tokui Tapes" correspondence. Am I missing something obvious?
