Who in his right mind would think this is appropriate?

Technically, that’s not a campaign sign, but really it’s a campaign sign. Effler’s name is in roughly 30” high letters! You can read the sign from 1/4 mile away!

Why would somebody do this? Mammoth ego? Micro peen? Terribly bad judgment? All of the above?

Effler attended the University of Memphis law school, graduating in 1999. The school was unranked that year, officially lumped with other schools in a category called Tier 3. Since 1999 the Tier 3 designation has been dropped for an actual ranking, and the school is currently ranked 140th out of 196 schools. Clearly he didn’t walk away from the school with an understanding of how to spend taxpayer’s money wisely.

What are the largest annual air shows in Poland?

And when are they? Links to their web pages would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of planes, what aircraft museums would you recommend?

Police Surveillance: Knoxville, Tennessee

Recently I noticed that Flock cameras have been installed on Hardin Valley Road, east of the Pellissippi Parkway intersection and it got me thinking about our rights. This article from the ACLU gives a summary of KPD surveillance (it goes back to 2015!), elaborates on surveillance methods currently in use, and discusses how surveillance negatively impacts our freedoms.

Personally, I don’t like large scale surveillance, especially when there’s no way of knowing who has access to the data and for how long. And I’m not aware of any clear policies that protect us from misuse of the data, whether it’s done by a law enforcement officer, governmental entity, or corporation.

What the ACLU article doesn’t do is provide guidance on legal and illegal forms of protest against surveillance cameras. We’ve all seen videos of people vandalizing Flock cameras or placing trash bags over them. I’m sure the former is illegal, but what about the latter? Are there any lawyers out there in Redditland who practice Constitutional law who can spell out what can legally be done to protest the use of these cameras?

Would it be practical to mount a window air conditioner on a cart and direct its output through a steel door?

I have a T hangar and this time of year it’s impossibly hot inside. Way too hot to work on the plane or anything else.

The hangar has a bi-fold door and the lower half has a service door. As a quickie solution, could I mount a large capacity window air conditioner on a cart that could be wheeled outside, then run flex ducting from the cold side of the unit through a hole cut in the service door?

Is it my imagination, or are there far fewer bees this summer?

In years past we’ve always had a variety of bees checking out the flowers, moving from plant to plant. This summer doesn’t seem to be that way.

Right now the inkberry holly are in bloom, and there are no bees on the bushes. The daisies and coneflowers have begun to open up, and I don’t see anything on them, either.

Are you seeing fewer bees, too?
