Could Poland learn a thing from Sweden about having better relations with its neighbours?

Sweden and Denmark have fought 30~ wars between ourselves, we used to be a nightmare for all of Europe 300/400 years ago, Nowadays though we have great relations with the whole Nordics and probably Europe as a whole.

I can’t be the only one who can see the reason for that being that we swedes of course learn about our once “mighty empire” but we also get taught about the “horrors” we did, Estonians used to call our occupation “the good times” but I can assure you that no Estonian today would like to go back to that. We don’t even mention ourselves in our national anthem.

When I scrolled few the history thread a few days ago, in a post about Ukraine and polish history (not surprisingly since everything nowadays seems to be about that) I saw a Pole fighting a Slovak about Pilsudski and another comment in there which I assume was a pole because he called Vilnius polish and justified taking it from Lithuania.

Does the polish education system not mention the “bad parts” about expanding its own borders by force?

Why polish woman prefer foreigners?

I have noted that generally polish woman avoid meeting polish guys especially if speaking foreign language as can communicate with foreign people. What is the core reason for this phenomenon? In the UK it's also the same but on bigger scale of course.Polish guys rarely date foreign girls and rather prefer to stay single while polish girls are socializing with non polish guys. Can someone explain why it's like this? I even feel that in workplace settings polish man are send to more demanding positions within the company and generally treated a little harshly. This is absolutely crazy for me.

A question about the Volyn massacre.

Hi, everyone.
I'd like to ask you about the Volyn massacre and the events that preceded it.

A little background: today I had a conversation with a Ukrainian who said that all Russian people, even those who are against the war, should bear collective responsibility and suffer for the war with Ukraine. I asked him: but what about the Volyn massacre? Do you think that all Ukrainians, even those who dont support Stepan Bandera and Ukrainian nationalism should be held accountable and suffer for the Volyn massacre?

He suddenly became very aggressive and called me stupid for not knowing that the Volyn massacre (!) was a response to Polish pacification policy. I didn't really know that it was a response to pacification, it seemed to me that the massacre had COMPLETELY different reasons.
I didn't argue further because my knowledge of Polish history is very limited, and I wasn't prepared for an argument. So I'd like to ask you about what actions were taken during the pacification period(repressions, victims, murders of Ukrainians by Poles?), and do you think the Volyn massacre happened because of pacification? Because this guy (btw he's ~30, not some insane old man) clearly sees it as a justification for the massacre and a reason why they shouldn't be held accountable.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Do you guys hate getting your countries called lahestan?

Persian, or some languages that have borrowed from persian (for example, old turkish and armenian), refer to poland with the word "lahestan". Do you guys dislike getting called like that or dont mind at all?

A question about racism

First of all I don't mean anything offensive I'm just asking if there is any racism against arabs and muslims in poland? This just based on stories I heard so I just wanted to make sure. Safety is number one for me.

Thanks in advance and I'm really sorry if that was offending but please understand I am just asking and I didn't actually experience anything myself.

PKP Intercity no guaranteed seat reservations?

I'm trying to buy a ticket. There is 2 seat available. However, if I choose, the website gives error 'Incompatibility of service and the selected seat.' ('Niezgodność usługi i wskazanego miejsca.'). So, if I don't choose seat, is it risky because of have stand the entire journey? Risk: Brak gwarancji miejsca (Warsaw Central to Gdansk Glowny)

So like the title stated I am a jew from Israel who is a bit brown skinned and I'm really involved and interested in football and the ultras and hooligans culture but I've never experienced a football match with big ultras outside of Israel. I'm going alone to the game I have no choice and I'm aware of the far right movement in the stands and simultaneously want to experience a such an atmosphere, tell me about each of the options and if I can go where should I seat and what to avoid?

Is DPD Poland always this braindead or did I just get unlucky?

small shop here, ship from PL to HU. one of my first orders and DPD turned it into a full clown show. tell me if this is normal or if im cursed

- generated a few labels bc i wasnt sure how the warehouse would pack it. they packed it as ONE parcel, correct. but the 2 extra labels just stayed in the system as ghost parcels. nobody flagged it.
- parcel goes out, then vanishes. no scans for a week.
- HU courier tells my customer he "cant deliver until the other 2 parcels arrive". they dont exist lol
- i email them, politely, just cancel the 2 dead labels and deliver the 1 real parcel sitting in your depot. answer: "depot didnt accept it, already sent back to sender, cant stop it." it was IN the depot. instead of a van you put it on a truck back to another country. bravo

so i eat the return, reorder, and throw in a free extra item to keep the customer happy after all that waiting. thats my money gone bc THEY couldnt deliver.

then the invoice for the reshipment shows up. \~4x the first one. same beds, same route. just says "forwarding services" twice, zero breakdown, no parcel numbers. i literally cant tell if theyre billing me for their own return screwup or double charging me.

i filed a complaint on the first invoice too (they billed 3 parcels when 1 shipped). still waiting on that. now theres a second messed up invoice on top.

so:

  1. is this normal for DPD PL or did i draw the short straw
  2. they refuse to itemize an invoice this big — whats the move, who actually escalates this
  3. anyone had them return a parcel instead of delivering it, did you get the return cost back

not naming anyone, just trying to decide if i switch couriers before this happens again. cheers

How are Mongolians treated in Poland?

I'm Mongolian American and I'm planning to visit Poland this fall, but some members of my community have advised against it for a number of reasons.

If I were to travel to Poland and people saw me, how should I expect to be treated, and what should I expect when it comes to my personal safety?
