Owner Builder – worth it for building your first home?

Has anyone here done the Owner Builder course to build their first home in WA?

I’m curious to hear real experiences from people who actually went down this path. Was it worth it financially and stress-wise? How difficult was dealing with permits, trades, inspections, and timelines compared to using a builder?

Would you do it again for your first home, or is it better left to experienced people?

Would love to hear the good, bad, and unexpected parts of the process.

Why do some Australian workplaces in Perth become dominated by one ethnic group

I do late shopping at Woolworths Perth Airport quite often, and I’ve noticed a large number of the staff seem to come from the same ethnic background. This isn’t meant as hate or criticism towards anyone! It not an easy job neither too flashy.

I’m genuinely curious how this happening and why more local Aussies or other groups don’t seem interested in these roles anymore. Is it because of shift timings, pay rates, or something else?

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Australia was the balanced multicultural environment where workplaces reflected many different backgrounds. I just hope Australia keeps that mix and social balance rather than becoming heavily segmented like some areas in Canada or the US. First casualty is always quality of service and products in this case.

Why Are Light Milk & Full Cream Milk Bottles the Same Colour Now?

Anyone else noticed that light milk and full cream milk bottles lids/caps are now the same colour? They used to be easy to recognise — full cream was dark blue and light milk was sky blue. Now I find myself double-checking every time.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like one reason could be to help sell more light milk. From what I’ve seen, light milk was usually the last one left on the shelves because most people seemed to prefer full cream.

Not saying it’s some big conspiracy 😅 but it definitely feels less convenient for shoppers now. Anyone else finding this annoying or am I overthinking it?

Perth Housing Market After the 2026 Budget — Cooldown or Still Going Strong?

what’s your unbiased take on the housing market after the 2026 federal budget changes? Im sure there will similar posts but i thought just to put it out there
negative gearing reforms,
migration slowing,
high inflation,
and possible rate changes…
Do you think Perth prices will cool down, stay resilient, or keep rising because of low supply and strong mining industry.
Trying to understand what people on the ground are predicting.
