Do you guys ever doubt your diagnoses?

when i have a flare up im like “dang yeah this is real”

but ive had a good few months and sometimes the first 18 years of being told by doctors “nothings wrong” really starts to get to my head. like im gaslighting myself i guess

sometimes i feel like i have it easier than other people with hEDS. i still exercise regularly (mostly because i never let up) but idk.

i had a fractured foot once and walked on it for 3 months so maybe my pain tolerance is just high but sometimes i just worry that im claiming something that isnt mine. even though i was diagnosed just idk. maybe its denial.

does anyone else experience this?

Who is the right person to ask?

i heard someone say that they hate when white people ask them if things are “okay” because it shouldn’t be on their shoulders to decide where the line of appropriation is. And i agree it’s unfair to make them the spokesperson for where that line is, but often i have questions about what is and isn’t okay as a white person working in an industry/culture that was created by black people, and i don’t know who it is okay to ask in real life. I want to be respectful and aware, but most of the time i end up not asking and airing on the side of caution because i don’t want to make someone feel like i’m looking at them as “the spokesperson” when i know that’s unfair. Who can i ask? or in what context?

is this hair style okay for a white person to do?

i’m a white girl and i have autism and get really overstimulated by my hair. i have always been wary of doing more than two braids cause i want to make sure im being respectful and not playing a role in cultural appropriation. Is this hair style okay for a white person to do?
