New to Cozy 🧁

My first cozy fantasy was Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy, and it was one of my favorite reads this year. (And I’m a grimdark lover! 🫣) It was absolutely hilarious. The characters were flawed. The romance wasn’t really romance, despite pushed as such, but more enemies to reluctant friends, which only made it more entertaining.

I figured I’d start here and ask for suggestions. I’m not big on romance, but I’m perfectly happy with it as a subplot. The funnier/wittier the better. My dark heart likes a good laugh.

Fantasy Books I've Read That Feel Underappreciated

I see the same books popping up all the time, which is fine because they are good! But I feel like so many are missing out on some hidden gems:

The Last War trilogy by Mike Shackle
Low Town trilogy by Daniel Polansky
In the Shadow of Lightning by Brian McClellan

I looked, and they all have under 10k ratings. That's so stinkin' sad! Anyone else like these? Or have other hidden gems?

P.S. I'm talking trad pub books. Not indies.

Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent - Too Disturbing to Recommend?

Earlier this year I read Strange Sally Diamond, and it was SOOO good. I could NOT put it down and had to know how it ended. The entire book was so incredibly disturbing (but I'm 100% okay with that, obviously since I consumed the book). But because it was so disturbing, I feel hesitant to recommend it because I'm not sure what people's thresholds are. I supposed I could warn people, but that could spoil it. And I LOATHE spoilers.

Anyone who read it, and enjoyed it, avoid recommending for the same reasons or just shell it out?

Where is the Necromancy?

I absolutely LOVE the idea of necromancy magic, but I’m having the darnest time finding books that utilize it. I tried Gideon and couldn’t get into it, which was a huge bummer. Any necromancy focused recs?
