I was DoorDashing, pulled into a parking lot and it died, parked, turned it back on and idled well. Turned it off and left it alone for 30 mins. Drove it home a mile away and it started to die, but then jerked back into action. Like it disengaged for a second. Just bought this a month or so ago out of desperation.
Work done:
Oil change
Spark plugs
Valve cover gasket
Hydraulic tensioner and serpentine belt
AFTER THAT, it popped a P0125 code, changed thermostat and ETC sensor (all done March 19th) by one of those oil change shops, owner felt confident and warrantied his work!)
Issues:
Power steering pump going out and reservoir leaking
P0125 keeps coming back, his parts guy sent him a cheapo when he had a better one with good ratings available, put that in, code came back, got 1 from autozone and O’reilleys, code came back. Sprung for the OEM, code came back.
Went to a friends brother who she swore by(April 10th), he replaced some busted lug studs, checked spark plugs, looked a little burnt, and oil was below the low line, put 2 quarts in. I bought a 5 quart jug and have put 5 quarts in total into the engine, making sure to keep it above half, but not overfilled.
First picture is where I found some oil, cleaned it up and it’s back, it was NOT from me spilling refilling it, also the clip my fingers are on is loose. I took pictures of the other sides of the engine because I can’t see them well.
I think the valve cover gasket may have been botched, because almost every time I get it close to full the CEL mostly stays off. I was going to speak to the mechanic about the potential leak but now that it’s stalled out I need answers, I don’t have a code reader to check for any new codes, and I ALMOST caught up on bills 😭😭, HELP!
Edit: googled possible issues and just noticed ignition switch/electrical interruptions was a possible cause, I just had my ignition re-keyed? And got new keys.
