Puppy Has Parvo- False Positive?

Hi all,

My fiancé and I adopted my sweet girl, Daphne, about a month ago. She is a 14 week old Red Heeler Mix and yesterday she tested positive for Parvo. She is 14 weeks old and just got her third DHPP vaccination three days ago. I am so upset because my fiancé and I have been so careful. She only goes in our little backyard (there’s not even grass, just cement) and went to the bar with us after her 2nd vax but was in a carrier or on a blanket the whole time. No interactions with other dogs, no dog parks, no walks. Nothing. The only reason we took her to the vet was because she had soft stools for the past week or so and then this morning she had diarrhea twice. Otherwise, acting totally normal. Eating, drinking, absolutely full of energy. Chasing the ball (and the cats lol.)

The vet did say that it is possible that it is a false positive because she just had her vaccine, but because of the diarrhea that it is most likely a true positive. However, it’s been 24 hours since the first bout of diarrhea and she has not developed any other symptoms. She is eating, drinking, and playing like normal. She had diarrhea once today and that is it.

Basically all this to say; has anyone ever had a dog who caught a really mild case of Parvo? Or is it possible that it really is a false positive? We took her to a different vet because it was a Saturday and our regular one wasn’t open. Should I go back to my regular vet when they open tomorrow and get her tested again to see? The test yesterday was a Fecal Float if that helps at all.

And if it is a true positive-does my dog need to go to an Emergency Vet? The vet said we didn’t, but some things I’m reading are saying we should take her. They already did an IV and Vitamin B12 at the vet and gave me anti-vomiting medicine and dewormer to take home. They didn’t take her temp, MM, or cap refill so I am not able to see if she has any of those symptoms. I just looked and her gums look fine and her refill times seems normal (but obviously I’m not a vet lol, so I say that with little confidence).

Thanks for any and all responses!!

Houston, TX. Dog ate a small piece of these mushrooms.

Hi! My 14 week old puppy ate a few bites of these mushrooms found under an above ground pool. Can anyone ID these for me? So far dog is not showing any symptoms of poisoning and it’s been about 45 minutes. But to ease my mind I just would like to know what these are.
