Finance bill to introduce tax to payment platforms

Treasury plans to introduce 16% VAT on payment platforms like M-Pesa, Airtel Money and Pesapal in the Finance Bill 2026.

While Treasury says the tax targets platform providers, experts warn the cost could still be passed to users through higher transaction fees.

Working remotely part series

Hello guys, this is Day 2. I’m assuming by now you’ve optimized your profiles across the board. If you haven’t, go back to Class 1.

> Today, we are talking about your toolkit: LinkedIn, Reddit, Apollo, Facebook and Google Sheets.

We all know LinkedIn, but the real question is: Do you know how to use it? You don’t need the Premium version; the free version is perfectly fine as long as you have verified your identity.

> The Strategy: Networking > Applying

Whether you are an SDR, Graphic Designer, or VA, your job isn't to look for Jobs. It’s to look for Pain.

Join every LinkedIn group relevant to your niche.

Your task is to interact. Comment on posts to grow your visibility.

> Use the R.T.C.F. format with your AI to generate engaging, insightful comments. Don’t just say "

Great post! Give value and insights.

> So What is Pain?

> In the BMS, Pain isn't bodily injury 😂😂 it’s a business problem. You are looking for prospects(people/business) who are struggling.

For example:

1.SDR/Lead Gen: My email conversion rate is terrible.

  1. SEO/Marketing: i'm losing money on ads and I don’t know why.

  2. Customer reps(CS): Look for: Our response times are lagging, or Customers are complaining on our socials and we can't keep up.

  3. Virtual Assistant (VA): Look for: i'm drowning in meetings, or My inbox is a disaster zone; I'm missing leads.

  4. Graphic Design: Look for: Our branding looks dated, or I have the content, but it looks unprofessional and won't convert.

> The Reddit Advantage

Reddit is our home base. For the tech-savvy guys, you can even build a workflow via n8n (localhost) to fetch these pain points from Reddit automatically. But if you're doing it manually, head to these subreddits(allow me to be biased 😂😂I am an SDR so for appointment setters and closers)

r/smallbusiness, r/Entrepreneur, r/ecommerce, r/SaaS, r/marketing, r/startups

Industry-specific ones like r/restaurateurs or r/fintech.

> Today’s lesson The Pain Map

We are not pitching yet. We are observing and documenting. Open a Google Sheet and create these columns:

a) Company / Person Name

b) Visible Problem / Pain Point

c) Source Link (Where did you find them?)

d) How You Help (Your solution in 1–2 sentences)

e) Contact / Profile Link

Your Task will be to fill at least 10 rows in your sheet today.

In the comments below, share 2–3 examples of the pain you found (Describe the pain + your potential solution). Do not tag or pitch them here yet. We are building the foundation.

Late joiners, start at Class 1. The list you build today is what will get you paid next week.

Let’s go. Drop your findings below and tag a friend who needs to wake up.

Working remotely part series

Hello guys, welcome to Day 1. Today we are laying the foundation: profile creation, understanding the right platforms, and the core of what we call the Broke Man Strategy (BMS) for skilled freelancers like VAs, SDRs, and Account Managers.

> In the online world, visibility, presentability, and assurance are the holy trinity. They make the difference between getting hired and getting ghosted. What do I mean? The very first thing an employer looks at is your profile and your resume. If it's not optimized to the fullest, you're already out of the game.

> I had a guy in my DMs recently asking, "How can I get customer representative jobs?" I asked him if he uses Facebook. Funny thing, the guy told me it's outdated "Facebook ni ya wazee" 😂😂. Trust me, the best platform to land SDR and Customer Rep jobs right now is Facebook.

I want you to try this right now:

  1. Upload your CV to your favorite AI. (Pro tip: Prompt it using the R.T.C.F. framework, Role, Task, Context, Format, to get a solid, fluff-free structure).

  2. Take screenshots of your current LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), and any other platforms you use.

  3. Upload the screenshots to the AI and command it to help you optimize your profiles to match the new professional tone of your CV.

> Notice I haven't mentioned Upwork? That's because I know it’s not exactly "brokie friendly" right now. If you are already on it, you can restructure it too. But for this BMS tenure, our primary focus will be LinkedIn, Facebook, and Reddit. Your backup arsenal will be Apollo and Google Sheets.

> LinkedIn is an incredibly powerful app in the remote world. It is the master key that can unlock your pathbut only if you optimize it correctly.

And that is exactly what we are diving into for Class 2. Stay tuned.

Hello guys, it's been a while since the last working remotely series. Well, the truth is sites zimekuwa a little bit hard kupenya, but that's not the issue that made me post this today.

> So many of you came to my DMs recently, and I noticed one major thing. Unapata a guy or lady is highly qualified or has a solid skill (e.g., SDR, graphic designer, coder, video editor, or good in WordPress), alafu unapata anataka kuwa just a tasker. Or they tell you they are entirely stuck.

> You ask them one question: "Have you tried applying?" Their response is always: "Yes, I've done it many times, but I always get the 'Unfortunately...' email."

> You ask them exactly how they apply, and they tell you: "Si ni the normal way? Unaapply direct kwa site."

First of all, kama uko na skills kama hizo, mbona unakimbilia gig platforms? I'm not saying sites ni mbaya, but they should be a supplement to your main thing, not your entire strategy.

> So you might ask me, "Okay, I have a skill. What do I do?" I'll assume you are a brokie right now huna pesa, but uko na laptop, simu, AI, na WiFi. I'll answer your question with a series of questions:

  1. Do you know what pitching is?

  2. Do you know how to pitch?

  3. Do you know the power of LinkedIn?

  4. D you know the power of building your own brand?

  5. Do you know how to leverage Google Sheets, Reddit, and Apollo?

Ladies and gentlemen, assuming you answered "no" to even one of those questions, I want to officially welcome you to Class 1 of the Broke Man Strategy for Landing a Remote Job at r/Majuu.

My name is Jayson, your second favorite remote job analyst, and I would like to welcome you to the series.
