Wolverine boots my MIL gave me year before last for my B-day soles foam portion disintegrated. Hardly worn, mostly only for dirt biking, well yesterday after the umpteenth time gluing them back together, one just came off and the other I lost riding.

I was thinking oh a while watching TV project, to build up a slick sole and turn them into racing flats. I have a pretty complete kit, including a cobbler's patching machine (aka cast hand cranked sewing machine) but can't figure out how to start, the rubber sole was sewn through and to the foam midsole, and it's not a simple resole of cut it off then glue nail then sew... Because there's nothing left to sew to?

Wolverine boots the foam sole disintegrated, have the rubber tread for one lost the other riding.

Ideally I'd like to rebuild them like racing slicks, as I have heavy leather and one of those hand cranked cobbler's sewing machine but for the life of me I can't figure out how I would join or see the first layer to the upper because all the stitching was through the foam
