2 train videos of Amtrak California Zephyr.
My phone fell over in the second video. oops.

So I was up at portal 10 filming the California Zephyr. And about 20 minutes after it had passed (going into Denver), the traffic light I’m watching turns yellow. So I think, “Sweet, I’m gonna get to see at least 1 more train while I’m up here.” So I set up my camera and start waiting when 10ish minutes had passed, the traffic light turns from yellow to a double red. At that point, I knew something was up, so I decided to wait for a little while to see what was going down. It was worth it. After about 25 minutes of waiting, I hear a loud engine, which at first I thought was a train. But it turned out to be the first of many in a long line of trucks/big machinery. Going up Coal Creek. I was hoping someone could tell me what they had to go repair. I saw some welding gear in there, so maybe they are just repairing a track? Idk, please someone tell me. I’m up there pretty often, and this has never happened.
I put the pictures in order incase that helps.
I was just looking at the train, so I didn’t see that the camera was focused on the grass. Oops.
This is the Amtrak California Zephyr headed for California from Chicago, about to make a stop at Union Station in Denver, Colorado.
I grew up in the United States with a train running through a mountain very close to me. So everyday since I was a little kid to current day I would see a train with probably 1000 feet in elevation above my house. The only way to describe it is magical. It is definitely the reason I am so infatuated with trains. (one of the trains I posted was filmed on this mountain) if anyone wants a picture of the train running on the mountain side let me know. I just couldn’t fit it in this post. It is seriously the coolest train spot I have ever seen.
The first train, I believe, is “EMD FP9 67,” and I filmed it on the Shaver’s Fork in West Virginia.
The rest of the trains were filmed in Colorado on the Moffat Tunnel Division going up Coal Creek and near the Big Ten Curve.
Just wanted to share my love for trains with all my other train lovers out there on this special day.
