They seem generally well-liked. Every now and then I come across someone who really hates them.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the bands from this era recently: Mallory Knox, You Me at Six, Deaf Havana, Fightstar, Lower Than Atlantis, Kids in Glass Houses, Don Broco, Young Guns, We are the Ocean.
These bands were all pretty big (and quite enjoyable) over a very specific time period, but this style of post-hardcore has really seemed to fizzle out in the 2020s. Most of these bands have either broken up or significantly shifted their style of music, so it’s probably a style we’ll never hear from again.
So the purpose of this thread is to hear from you guys - what are your thoughts/opinions on this subgenre? What were your best experiences with it? Who were/are your favorite bands from this era, and are they still making music today?
If your answer is “other,” feel free to comment what the genre is
Just go crazy. And I’ll let you know my thoughts
Edit: if you can send links too, that would be great!
I’m looking for emo or emo-adjacent albums with the catchiness of a pop album.
Hey guys! I know I’ve been saying I hate music now, but I listened to TPAB last night and I must say… I love ALL music now!! Corey Feldman, Lil Xan, it all sounds magical after my ears were blessed with TPAB.
And hot take, this album is underrated!!
Have you seen this guy before? Hot take, he makes me hate music! In fact, I stopped listening to any type of music all together because of him! Now I just stare at brick walls trying to forget this guy’s existence.
Anyone else feel the same?
This one’s hard for me. Which do you prefer?
I’m talking widely acclaimed artists with large fanbases. Coheed & Cambria come to mind for me personally.
An excellent follow-up to Hug of Thunder (which is already 9 years old btw)! What are your thoughts on the album so far?
(1) Origami Angel - Somewhere City
(2) Foxing - Nearer My God
(3) Oso Oso - Basking in The Glow
(4) Dogleg - Melee
(5) Pool Kids - Pool Kids
(6) Arm’s Length - Never Before Seen, Never Again Found
Send some more recs!
I can’t really defend their newer albums, but Sundowning was a solid debut with a couple of great tracks. It felt a lot more balanced stylistically, and it’s kind of a shame their genre blending got so much clunkier over time.
