How can I make this laptop cover look more preppy?

How can I make this laptop cover look more preppy?

I originally wanted to do purple and brown checkers but I didn't have enough yarn. Midway started to dislike the colour combination I chose and don't really like the way my project was turning out.

Suggestions?

I tried 44 foundation chains with 99 stitches (23 squares with DC) and found it too big and looking it frog and redo it with 20 squares but finding it difficult to calculate. Hoping to tap on collective wisdom how to calculate the foundation chains and stitches needed to get 20 squares

Part 2 of my laptop making

Initially I did a laptop cover using chenille yarn but decided against it with collective wisdom by crochet reddit community

I'm now trying to make a checkered laptop bag that can be carried 2-way but I'm having difficulty calculating the number of foundation chains and stitches I need based on a YouTube link I wanted to emaluate but instead of a wallet, I wanted to make a laptop case

I'll attach the YouTube link I used below in the comments! The stitch markers mark where I would like it to be shortened to but I have difficulty calculating because of the crochet 5 stitches in one stitch kind of instruction..

Would it be a wise idea to continue making sling straps for this laptop bag I made using chenille yarn?

I'm making a laptop bag to carry 2-way and noticed in a thread talking about camera bags that making a camera bag out of chenille yarn is a bad idea because of how thin the thread is. I really have no clue—do you think I should continue to crochet a sling strap for my laptop and can this laptop bag be used daily?

What are the best ways to apologise and make up to Libras (esp Libra men)? How would you like to be made up to?

I realised I hurt someone who is a Libra a lot over a few years and would like to know how to make up to him. Ive asked him and he tells me I should know... Not helping :(

Edit: is there any way or what can I do for him to accept me again?
