Just a heads-up to fellow collectors. Please do your due diligence before buying “sealed box” models, even from known sellers.
Recently received a model that was sold to me as a sealed box version. Everything seemed normal initially because only the front side of the packaging was shown. After receiving it and discussing it with fellow collectors, I found out that the box had “MiJo Exclusive” branding on the back, which was released in blister version, not as a boxed release. Basically, a resealed car.
As a regular buyer/collector, there was honestly no way to know this beforehand unless you were deeply tracking release variations globally or checking with other collectors after delivery. Naturally, when someone sells a “sealed box” version, you assume it’s an officially released boxed product.
When questioned about it, the seller admitted they themselves were unaware and had sourced it from their own dealer/supplier without properly verifying it before selling it onward. Which basically means the item was listed and sold without authenticity checks, despite being advertised as a sealed box model.
What’s disappointing is shifting the responsibility onto the buyer by saying it should have been identified earlier. In reality, I only started suspecting something while removing the shrink wrap and checking/noticing the packaging closely. That’s when I reached out to fellow collectors and found out that this release apparently never officially came in a box version.
- On top of that, the seller calls me up and tells me... "You weren't even born when I started collecting diecasts".
- Another thing, addressing me like, "Sunn..."
- Then he goes on to tell me that I talked rudely over WhatsApp.
- Tells me, "This is not Amazon Customer Support, and we are not Amazon". Like, bro...who else should I reach out to?
- Apparently, they have sold the same type of box to another collector as well.
After a long discussion, a refund was eventually offered, but only if the item is returned in the exact original sealed/shrink-wrapped condition. That condition itself feels unreasonable.
It’s a failure to verify the authenticity and legitimacy of the packaging before reselling it.
Takeaway for collectors:
• Always ask for photos of ALL sides of the packaging.
• Verify whether the specific release officially existed in boxed form.
• Don’t blindly trust “sealed box” claims without cross-checking.
• Sellers should verify inventory from suppliers before reselling to customers.
Posting this so others stay cautious and avoid similar experiences. Not revealing the name of the seller just to avoid unnecessary drama.

The new drop that has a Porsche, BMW and Nissan GTR.
MiniGT just dropped a new set featuring a Porsche, BMW, and a Nissan GTR, and honestly, the lineup looks fire. Can't say much about the detailing on that BMW but these are definitely going to be must-haves for collectors.
Quick reminder though: if you’re planning to preorder, stick to authentic sources and trusted sellers. There are way too many shady who don't deliver, use FB comments as a system of records, are arrogant towards the buyers or create other unnecessary issues.
Also, no need to deal with arrogant sellers who act like they’re doing you a favour. Plenty of good, reliable sellers out there who treat buyers with respect.
Happy collecting! 😄
