Art from the author Shinobu Kaitani
It’s confirmed that the songs played in the official trailer 2 will be the opening and ending themes for the 2nd cour. I don’t think anything can beat yorushka’s song but we have to see
So it’s already apparent that the first season will include the >!second revival round!< .This got me thinking -
Suppose we are going to get more seasons after this, then the second season will have the >!Pandemic game (~ 5 eps) , Musical chairs (~10 eps) and Bid poker(~10 eps)!<
That leaves with only two games for the third season- >!Human auction and four kingdoms!<. There can only a maximum of 10-13 episodes to cover this. Is Kaitani going to add some additional content or expand on the ending?
LG officials are baffled at Tokuchi's move!
As you all know the initial reception of this anime was not pleasant to say the least.
There are several reasons for this
Protagonist:They expect the protagonist to be super smart for an anime based on deception but Kaitani chose a naive honest girl which is baffling for many people but the reason is only apparent later
Pacing: Compared to most anime which tries to grab your attention in the first episode, LG chose a slow pace route for the viewer to ease into the more complex games later in the series. But a lot of anime viewers these days have shorter attention spans.
Competition: NGL this season has been great for anime with Frieren, Witch Hat Atelier, Re Zero and Nippon Sangoku- all of them have great animations along with good stories. LG however chose a standard animation which focuses more on the plot.
Due to these reasons many people wrongly judged it on the first few episodes and dropped it. That is the reason for the negative reviews
However those who stuck around have really started liking it and are starting to appreciate the anime more as episodes come by.
This is why I want to say let’s not be disheartened by it. When Breaking Bad first started airing, the reception was not that great. I had a hard time convincing my friends to watch it because it also had a slow start and they said that they would rather watch Dexter instead. But today the show is recognised for its greatness.
I believe this will be the path for LG. The reception will be more positive in the 2nd cour and a year from now they will be a lot of analysis videos on Youtube.
BTW if you like watching reaction videos, I recommend watching cawcawtv reactions to Liar Game on Youtube. He is great.
I found an interesting video on youtube on the Lineage of Liar Game. It only has a few views but it’s good. Take a look.
There are SPOILERS in the video
Even though the anime is a beat by beat adaptation of the manga (apart from some exceptions), it feels different overall.
Its not because of smartphones and stuff but I think it’s got to do with the background
Shinobu Kaitani rarely pays attention to the background to focus more on characters but the anime does put effort to create a world that feels lived in
I prefer fanfics with good planning and strategy but if there are well written fanfics with good character development then I will be interested as well.
Also another question: Is there a fanfic which covers the events of Akiyama >!destroying the corrupt MLM!<
Akiyama’s voice actor for the English dub has a really deep voice which threw me off when I first heard it. I still prefer the Japanese dub but the English one has its own charm.
