My Hatred for baseball stadiums

I dont think there is anything worse than watch a soccer game in a baseball stadium. Many friends of mine say it is a big factor that puts them off going to games as they say it looks amaturish. I seen New Mexico are a step closer to getting their new stadium at long last. What is the story with likes of Tulsa, El Paso and those in USL1 using a baseball stadium? I assumed it was a rule when applying for expansion you had to get your own stadium within a certain period of time as that is why Memphis 901 FC lost their side.

U20 CONCACAF Championships

Big congradulations to both Colton Swan & Brandan Dayes on being selected for the U20 Concacaf Championships over next couple weeks for the USYNT. While it is far from the strongest side for the USYNT, it is still a brilliant opportunity for both players. I feel for Colton Swan it will come with a lot of pressure as this competiton rewards you with both Pan American games spot and u20 World Cup spot and he will most likely be the starting striker. It also shows how rewarding academy investment and scouting young talent can be. I expect a couple other USL academy alumi to be present at the tournament with Brandon Bent ( Miami FC) with Jamaica, Aiden Benítez ( former Indy Eleven) with El Salvador and William Cabrera( North Carolina FC) with El Salvador. I really hope in 4 years time we see that number grow as it a great window of opportunity for these kids to get noticed in higher leagues.

USL2 playoffs 2026

With the Playoffs starting tonight what is everyones opinion ahead of the games from favourites, Surprise package to dark horse and unlucky loosers. For me it is Vermont Green's to loose. That last minute goal conceded against Seacoast United only thing that stopped them going 100% wins. Shout out to GFI Acad. Woodlands. Not that long in USL and making the playoffs. Shows the amount of talent in Texas. Heart goes out to Hickory FC. Will be a long winter for them thinking what could have been in their first season in USL2 after falling apart in last 2 games of the season in crazy circumstances. But have been a great addition to USL all the same.Who knows maybe in next 5 years they move up to USL1if they can keep their fanbase. Would be some great region rivalaries if they did make the step up.

looking to the future with soccer in the USA post 2026

With the USMNT campaign coming to a close in the World Cup, what do you think needs to be done for the USMNT to improve and what role do you think USL can play in that development?

Over 31 current or former USLC/USL1/USL2 were part of the current World Cup. That is quite impressive for an organisation that has changed so much especially over past 4 years trying to find a formula that works long term. USMNT fans tend to bash their own leagues regarding domestic players saying they need to move to Europe quckily but in my opinion what is most important is exposure to mens football at younger age and not some reserve league against kids.

Brazil is an example of a country that suffers with selling players too young and not getting enough games to learn their craft. Every European team buying 15 year olds for $20m+ and by time they move to Europe we see how raw they are. I would love to see more teams go the Orange County route stealing MLS prospects and developing them like Tyson Epsy, Pedro Guimaraes while investing more into their own academies and producing the next Joshua Wynder or maybe new league rule to play 3 u22 players. Could someone below can explain the USL academy setup and if it has improved since 2020.

Lower divison stadiums

What is everyones favourite USLC, USL1, USL2 or MLS NEXT pro stadium? I live in Europe and have been to a few over the years mostly from following Sunderland on tour. I have been to Heart Health Park, Isotopes Park, Toyota Field, Wakemed Soccer Park, Patriots Point Soccer Complex and today i got to experience my first MLS Next Pro stadium in Finley Stadium which surprised me in terms of crowd being over 6,000 turnout. I would like to go to more over the coming season which ones would you recommend?

First few days of World Cup

With the World Cup into its 5th day I am curious how everyones community have taken to the World Cup. I think all us non Americans have put the topics leading up to the World Cup such as ticket prices and the war to the side for the moment and embracing the moment of the World Cup and American culture, which is all we all ever wanted. I seen for the USMNT game the past Friday many USL clubs had watch partys which I think was super cool and hope it continues to happen the next few weeks.

USL games this week

The Louisville v Tampa game today feels like a game that will be a big decider in the conference. If Tampa wins it will put them 11 points clear. What’s everyone’s hope or game to watch this week ?

Season assesement after first 10 games

With the season 10 games in what is peoples opinions on their side so far or the league in general. For me stating the obvious I never expected Tampa to be this dominant.Full credit to their front office in turning it around after last season.Special mention also to Miami FC too. As I stated earlier in a post my disgust with Sporting Jacksonville and the circus that that mess is at the moment. Lexington has also disappointed me based on players they brought in.

New to the Canadian Premier League

Hi I want to get into following the CPL. I live in Europe so not really educated on much.Only club I really know is Forge FC from seeing them in CCL. The growth of soccer in Canada over past 7 years has been incredible looking from the outside in. If people could educate me on their respective CPL sides , how the league format works, the difference in CSL , and if the league plans to expand I would appreciate it.

Just watched the first 30 mins of the Sporting Jax game and truly I feel sorry for the players . They are way out of their depth at this level. Year 1 in USL is extremely hard but their front office should be ashamed on themselves. The appointment of Mark Warburton was a major red flag from Day1. A big name based on clubs he worked for but had little to no success outside of Rangers who had 80x the budget of rivals. He then appoints his close mate Liam Fox as manager who again a very poor manager and the results have shown that. With how successful the women’s team have been this season and crowd they generate there is simply no excuses why with over a year of planning that Mark Warburton couldn’t have got a competitive squad than this. I hope for the good of the club they end this experiment in the summer as they have become a meme.
