The Punisher Community Needs Help
I'm not in any way trying to be the "Fighting for a war please look at me" type person here but there's so much wrong in the community. Whether this gets down voted or seen by 1 person I don't care because exposing (no it's not that serious for the word "exposing" I know but get out of your bubble) the toxic aspects of a community should be a routine occurrence. If you've seen my account before I am a frequent poster/commenter and I fully enjoy creating amateur level Punisher related cosplay/accessories because I genuinely like the Punisher, the character no matter the iteration, and the whole purpose for the Punisher. I recently put up a "low effort post" according to someone where I put up a shitty Batman/Punisher quote that got ALL the attention compared to an actual question I thought the community could get behind, the beliefs and principles of the Punisher in their own words. Once trying to repost it to get my question answered, it was removed by the mods for seemingly no reason other than it was a repost.
So many times have I seen people get clowned on, including Jon Bernthal, because of not "understanding the character" "not portraying Punisher correctly" and so on. Which is completely valid, when talking about someone like Bernathal taking up the mantle and doing it his way is definitely way different than the comics. The yelling, uncertainty, run head first think later, those are completely different than comic Punisher and should be touched up on. However, how can we have an actual conversation when people aren't even willing to get on similar ground? People talk to each other like everyone's an idiot (Yes this is reddit but I guarantee a majority of this subreddit is like 25+ in age and can act and conversate like a fucking adult) just because they haven't read all 20,000 pages of MAX.
Along with, nobody hardly cares when someone actually puts in work to do a cosplay, a new patch, or anything creative. All the sub cares about is arguing about who knows the most Punisher ball knowledge and then drilling the loser into the ground just because they haven't been collecting the tales of the world's favorite serial killer since 1982. Just here like a day ago or whatever somebody posted a Punisher cosplay and got made fun of because they're fucking blonde and aren't the size of a Marine. "Wait for the twink spur to pass" or whatever was commented I saw, wtf is wrong with this community where someone is wanting to put in time and effort on something but may not look the part but just wants to be apart of the community they like.
There isn't a sense of community in this subreddit it just feels like people waiting for an excuse to bring up some BS quote or scenario that proves a point they have that belittles somebody. I think people here know more about Punisher than they know about being a kind person not waiting for something to argue about or make fun of someone/something that doesn't fit their perspective. Is this gonna do anything to help or make a difference? No, I know it'll sound self gratifying for making this post but I'm just disgusted by the community that backs someone who believes in everyone being a good person in their community, to instead argue and treat others like shit for having and enjoying different perspectives/ideas just to be right
