What should I buy?

Okay so, I want to read more this year and I’ve bought a ton of books already and I love reading a physical copy, but as the weather is warming up I want to read while I tan and I don’t wanna ruin my books w tanning oil and water. What are some e readers that are waterproof? I’ve been looking at the kindle but idk if those are any good.

Lmk you’re suggestions!!

Thanks!!

I’m so frustrated and idk what to do

For context I am a new grad MICU nurse who’s still on orientation.

So, I’ve been on orientation for a couple months now, i started in February and for the most part things were going pretty good. When I first started my orientation I was paired with a nurse who was also taking another orientee and we each got one patient. For around 11 weeks, I was getting just one patient as our nurse to patient ratio is 1:2, and they were not going to assign 4 patients to 1 nurse and precept 2 new grads. Eventually they had to split us apart and I ended up being paired with another nurse who I was told is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. I was looking forward to this because I thought maybe I would learn a little more especially since this nurse has has 25 years of experience on that unit.

Well the first day I was paired with him it was a complete shit show. We started off with a patient who was soiled and the nurse prior left him that way for hours (the stool was so dry) but anyways there were alot of little things we needed to do and he wasn’t really letting me take the lead (I think because he didn’t know me and wanted to see what I knew already) this was fine for the first day but things would just get hectic throughout the shift and I put it off to it just being we had 2 tasky patients and it was just a heavy assignment. Well the next day came along and I figured things would be less crazy and I would be able to be more independent. However each time I tried to get into my routine he would come in to the room to assess the patient for himself as I was doing the same and then he would be like “okay we need to do this, I’ll go grab this for you and then we’ll start” and it would irritate me because I wouldn’t even have time to think for myself what I would need to do next.

Every time I’ve had him as my preceptor I’ve had horrible crazy days where I’m getting out late. My typical routine is assessing both my patients and doing a head to toe right after report and then pulling their morning meds and start doing the other things we need to do. Today I was stuck in one of my patients rooms until 9 am and I didn’t even get to assess my other patient because he kept pulling me to do other things. It’s so frustrating working with him. Ive worked with other nurses and have not had this issue so I’m not sure if I’m the problem or he is.

I know obviously I’m not perfect and I’m still learning but I find it really hard to deal with this. I started taking 20-30 min breaks instead of the entire hour so I can catch up on my charting or fix my report sheet so I don’t sound incompetent during the change of shift. And I started staying late just to finish charting and writing my notes. I feel so lost and behind, and I have an orientation check in next week which I know is going to go horribly because he’s going to say my time management skills are shit and I don’t chart things on time.

I’m switching over to nights in June and I’m hoping the nurse I’m with is a better teacher but I’m scared that I haven’t built up the skills to really be on my own yet and I’m supposed to be off orientation in July.

I only have two more shifts with him so there’s no point in asking management to switch to a different preceptor. I just can’t stop crying abt this lol and I never cry abt work so this just feels so wrong to me

I’m making a grad cap of my countries flag and this is the first time I’ve ever rhinestones something. Is it looking okay so far? My graduation is at the end of may and it’s going to take a while but im just hoping that it’s not going to look bad by the end. Also is there any way to get rid of the glue redisdue on top of the rhinestones? I’m using b-7000 glue
