[Complete] [87k] [Mythic Romantic Fantasy] Of Gods and Roses

Hello friends,
I am a first time author looking for beta readers. My novel is mostly polished but I would like an outside opinion.
Of gods and roses is a story about Orien and isadora and the cost of choosing personal satisfaction over duty and the consequences of greed. It is the first in a five book series. I am willing to do a swap. Feel free to dm me if you are interested.

For 600 years, Orien — God of Gifts and Tides — has watched mortals in silence. He has seen kingdoms rise and fall, and found none of it as fascinating as them.
Until Isadora Firenze.
Twenty-six, grieving, and buried in debt after her father's death, Isadora runs Wildwood Blooms in the icy city of Frosthold. She can't afford to be kind ,but she is anyway. She tucks a bruised violet into a penniless boy's coat. She remakes dead carnations for a stranger's funeral and refuses payment. She gives as if it costs her nothing, even when it costs her everything.
That's why the gods choose her.
The Goddess of Blooms is dead, killed by the Harrow, and the balance must be restored. Isadora is chosen as a candidate for divinity. But she cannot ascend without a trial, and she cannot face that trial without a guide.
So Orien comes down.
He trades his divinity for a borrowed coat, a fake name — Niles Lemont — and a job at a dockside bar. His orders are simple: be boring, don't use your power, don't fall in love.

Alias use

So I’m writing a character who is a god disguising himself as a human and using an alias to do so and my question pertains to the grammar side of things. Should I use the alias only in dialogue or in the narrative parts as well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Identification question

So I’m looking to have a guard stop the main character at the gate as a way of introducing them by using a parchment with verification of identity but I’m not sure how to go about it the setting is somewhere between medieval any advice on how this would have worked historically
