***"***When Pak Lah took over, the political atmosphere changed completely. People could breathe again. The culture of fear was replaced by open discussion."
— Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Economic Adviser & Minister in the Prime Minister's Department
Hello, everybody! This is my first-ever mod announcement
At first, I was very hesitant about creating this mod because I was thinking that many people wouldn't play a Malaysian mod, since normally TCT players play American mods, and I haven't even created mods before, but I decided to give it a try
Today, officially, I'm announcing the first-ever mod I will make: PAK LAH.
Pak Lah entered office promising to fight high-level corruption, reform the police force, and make government transparent.
Following his historic, record-breaking landslide victory in 2004—where Barisan Nasional captured over 90% of Parliament—Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi embarked on an ambitious but highly controversial reform agenda. His administration championed Islam Hadhari to promote civilizational moderation and institutional decency, upgraded the Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC), cancelled expensive Mahathir-era mega-projects to rein in national debt, and quietly allowed the judiciary to release Anwar Ibrahim from prison.
However, these reforms angered entrenched UMNO division warlords who relied on state contracts, while his fiscal adjustments—including necessary fuel subsidy cuts—triggered sharp inflation that alienated urban voters and working-class families. At the same time, former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad launched a scathing campaign against Badawi from the sidelines, accusing his administration of weakness and economic mismanagement.
But 2008 changed everything. As Parliament was dissolved in February 2008, the released Anwar Ibrahim successfully forged an unprecedented, unified opposition front—Pakatan Rakyat—uniting the secular DAP, the Islamist PAS, and his own centrist PKR.
As dramatic rally crowds filled stadium seats across the country, the concept of a "Two-Party System" became a central political narrative. Institutional integrity, corruption scandals, and civil freedoms suddenly eclipsed decades of ruling coalition dominance.
Meanwhile, global economic headwinds threatened Malaysia's growth, while Badawi's refusal to use brutal authoritarian force opened up an unprecedented democratic space—a move that made Malaysia a focal point of Southeast Asian political transformation but deeply polarised traditional party loyalists.
By early 2008, the election was no longer about administrative performance. It was a high-stakes, ideological referendum on Malaysia's identity, its institutional soul, and its democratic future.
If you’d like to help us, please message us!
I hope the mod can be done next month or next two months, but I think it would take a bit of time due to uni
I am currently on code 2 and doing the candidates and all the stuff to ensure a realistic experience.
Thank you for reading this and being patient, and let me know your ideas and suggestions in the comments! Stay tuned for more updates soon!
I think there should be a 1977-1981 jerry brown incumbency mod where he wisn the 1976 election unexpectdedly agaist conally, and ther eshouldb e mechanics like zen vs bureaucracy variable because of how anti esbtlaishemnt was he and how liberal or conserative he is
(sorry for bad typing)
