Applying veneer in the field

I apologize in advance if this is not the right subreddit. We are in the middle of a remodel and our designers have incorrectly ordered a number of cabinets. A replacement cabinet arrived, the unfinished cabinet in the picture. The designer said this was intentional and that they ordered a roll of veneer that will be applied by a finish carpenter in the field. They wanted to do this so that were was no seam. I don't think I would have agreed to this plan from the beginning.

This makes me very nervous. I don't doubt it will look good when it's done, but I am worried in five or 10 years it will start to lose shape, crack, peel, etc. Especially since there are already installed cabinets next to the application site. The veneer is 1/32". This is seems very thin, the cut will need to be precise, and the whole unit is vertical. My intuition is applying this vertically is more difficult than horizontally, and that the task at hand is already reasonably difficult.

Am I over reacting/worrying here? Any input or advice is greatly appreciated.
