Highlights: Integrated Support, Vault Expansion, and Mobile Reliability | Week 1 August 2026

Hi everyone,

This week, we launched a new support system directly inside Drime, significantly expanded the Vault experience, improved the PDF Editor, and released another batch of reliability improvements for Android and iOS.

We also continued working extensively on the Windows desktop application alongside the upcoming macOS rebuild.

Here's everything that changed.

Integrated Support

We have taken your feedback regarding our support response times and ticket organization into consideration.

We recently removed the real-time Intercom chat from drime.cloud. Unfortunately, it led to a large number of abusive or duplicate requests, while the real-time format could also create the expectation that every message would receive an answer within minutes.

To improve the experience for everyone, we have created a new support system directly integrated into Drime.

You can now create and follow a support ticket:

This new system will help us organize requests more efficiently, keep track of conversations, and progressively improve our response times.

Support by email remains available as usual.

Vault (Web)

The Vault is now displayed as a dedicated section in the main Drive navigation, alongside Home, Folders and Tools.

We also brought the Vault experience much closer to the rest of Drime:

  • Added much faster thumbnails and previews for newly uploaded photos and videos.
  • Added a dedicated Photos gallery with a timeline, filters, and favorites.
  • Added dedicated Recent, Favorites, and Trash pages.
  • Added file tags while keeping this information encrypted.
  • Improved Trash management and storage usage synchronization.
  • Redesigned the file information panel to match the Drive experience.
  • Added more reliable file and image previews.
  • Improved the overall Vault interface and navigation.

The Vault can now preserve and display detailed EXIF metadata, including:

  • Capture date.
  • Upload date.
  • Last modified date.
  • Camera and lens information.
  • Exposure, ISO, and focal length.
  • Image dimensions.
  • GPS metadata when available.

This information remains encrypted and is not stored on our servers in readable form.

PDF Editor (Web)

We released another batch of reliability improvements for the PDF Editor:

  • Improved the stability of text editing.
  • Added support for detecting and editing rotated text.
  • Improved PDF text and layout detection.
  • Added real-time collaboration inside the PDF Editor.
  • Fixed various issues affecting complex or unusual PDF files.

Mobile (Android and iOS)

Version 2.11.36

We continued improving reliability and the photo backup experience across the mobile applications:

  • File sorting now works correctly by size and upload date.
  • Ascending and descending sorting now work correctly.
  • Sorting now also applies to the My Shares tab.
  • Added Free up space to remove photos and videos from your device after they have been safely backed up.
  • Improved startup speed.
  • Initial synchronization can now resume instead of restarting.
  • Memories now include animated zoom effects and quick actions.
  • The information panel now displays full EXIF metadata and video details.
  • Added the ability to rename files directly from the information panel.
  • Shipped various reliability, performance, and UI improvements.

Desktop Applications

We also continued working extensively on the Windows desktop application.

Improving its reliability remains one of our main priorities alongside the complete macOS application rebuild.

This work takes time because we want to build something reliable rather than rushing another release. We are continuing to address reported edge cases and synchronization issues.

What's next

  • Additional Vault improvements, including duplicate file detection.
  • More mobile reliability fixes and improvements.
  • Continued development and stabilization of the Windows desktop application.
  • Continued progress on the complete macOS application rebuild.

Closing thoughts

Thank you for following this week's Highlights.

These updates reflect our continued focus on making Drime faster, more reliable, and easier to use across every platform.

Your feedback plays an important role in how we prioritize improvements, and we’ll continue shipping meaningful updates across the Vault, mobile apps, desktop applications, and support experience.

Thank you for following our progress and for being part of Drime.

See you in the next one.

Got any feedback or ideas? Drop them in the comments or at https://ask.drime.cloud/feature-requests.

Hello everyone!

Changelog: Gallery Overhaul, Sign Rebuild, Expanded Preview Capabilities | June 2026

June has been another massive month for Drime.

We didn't slow down after May. We focused on completely transforming critical parts of the platform. We pushed out several updates and filled you in on them weekly on our subreddit.

This month was about rebuilding core systems and improving our infrastructure.

From a massive overhaul of the Gallery, rebuilding Sign from the ground up, upgraded File Previews, and key improvements to our Upload Manager, we've been hard at work on improving the overall experience. Plus, we hit a major milestone by officially launching Gallery Overhaul and Sign on mobile.

With that in mind, here's everything new this month.

𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗹

One of the highlights of this month is the overhaul we made to the Gallery.

The Gallery is now faster, smoother, and packed with more features.

Major improvements include:

  • Photo Albums
  • Quick photo management
  • Precise timeline scrolling
  • Filter by photos or videos
  • Faster thumbnail loading
  • Drag-to-select multiple items
  • Pinch to zoom grid tile sizes
  • Instant video thumbnails
  • Live Photo playback
  • EXIF metadata for videos

We're still improving the Gallery even after the overhaul and we're proud of what we've built so far.

𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽

Today, signing documents is faster, easier, and accessible on both web and mobile.

Sign used to be slow and limited. So we rebuilt it from scratch, added highly requested features, and made it more powerful.

New features include:

  • Signer ordering
  • New field config UI
  • Auto field detection
  • Document search
  • Next field navigation
  • Audit trail and signed PDF download
  • Modernized UI
  • Page navigation sidebar
  • Print and download support
  • Better zoom controls

This is the biggest change Sign has ever seen and it's just the beginning.

𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲

Our preview system just got a significant upgrade and handles more file formats than before.

You can now preview inside archives and see animated previews for some image formats. You won't need to download any of them first.

  • Archive file preview for ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ, TGZ, and BZ2
  • Preview without extraction for files inside archives including nested ones
  • Selective file downloads inside archives
  • Animated preview for GIF, APNG, WebP, and AVIF
  • Support for more image file formats including RAW, CR2, and CR3
  • Support for more 3D files including AMF, OFF, WRL, BIM and many more

Drime preview support took a big leap this month. For a comprehensive list of supported file types and file formats, check out this post on our official subreddit.

𝗨𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

We introduced a new flyout panel to the Upload Manager that lets you see more and do more.

New capabilities include:

  • Track transfer status, file type and destination folder
  • Search and clear completed uploads
  • Retry button to manually restart failed uploads

Now you can stay on top of your uploads even better than before.

𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀

We're improving the mobile experience and bringing in key web features over time.

Recent additions include:

  • Sign
  • Gallery Overhaul
  • Document editing
  • New image and video editors
  • Background playback
  • Faster video streaming
  • Playlists for audio
  • Improved UI
  • Better load times
  • Automatic backups for multiple workspaces
  • Custom sort and view preference per folder
  • Audio transcription and transcript search
  • Stability and reliability improvements

Thank you for growing with us on mobile. Expect more features and improvements soon.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲-𝘂𝗽𝘀

Desktop got fewer updates than web and mobile this month. You'll see why later on. Still, we made several improvements along the way.

  • Improved backup and sync interface
  • Better progress tracking and recovery
  • Faster selective sync
  • Better sync stability
  • Faster backup scanning
  • Windows shell extension

The list might look short, but these were real infrastructure improvements that took real effort. Stay tuned because something big is coming to desktop in the coming weeks.

𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

We rolled out a several improvements along the way.

Drive

  • Toggleable minimap for zoomed previews
  • More tooltips across the interface

Performance

  • Faster video encoding for uploads
  • Reliable large folder uploads
  • Faster image loading
  • Better browser notifications

Languages

  • Language support: German, Italian, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese
  • Instant language switching

𝗕𝘂𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

We fixed plenty of issues this month, mainly on web and mobile. Our friends at Rclone helped too.

Notable fixes include:

  • Dark mode display issues
  • UI transparency and color issues
  • Watermark tool UI bug
  • Screen recorder popup delay issue
  • Gallery view preference fix
  • Custom link UI bug
  • Custom branding upload bug
  • Backup page infinite loading on mobile bug
  • Sign import issues
  • Blank PDF fix
  • Whiteboard creation fix
  • Log sharing issue

Rclone fixes include:

  • Server-side copy and move failing with Cloudflare 520 error
  • Files being uploaded to the wrong directory
  • Duplicate upload_cutoff config option
  • Directory rename leaving the renamed folder empty in vfs

We're not done yet. More fixes are on the way. And special thanks to the Rclone team.

𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁

The public roadmap is finally coming in July. We held off until it could accurately reflect what we're actually building rather than features that were not ready. It's something we've been preparing for a while and it's almost here.

As for the technical blog, it's nearly done. We spent the last few weeks prioritizing infrastructure changes. It wasn't the most visible work, but it needed to happen first.

We'll have more to share once they're live.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆

We know you're eager about what we have lined up for July, so here's what you can look forward to.

We'll be pushing more infrastructure improvements across the board. That means faster load times, smoother sync, and a more reliable platform overall.

The main focus will be the long-awaited macOS Desktop V2, rebuilt from the ground up. This will be our most significant Desktop release thus far.

We're aiming to have a beta ready soon. Once it's polished, we're making the macOS Desktop client open source for everyone, a promise we're finally fulfilling.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂

June brought big changes to Drime. Gallery overhaul and Photo Albums made browsing media smoother. Sign rebuild made signing simpler. And file preview expanded to support more file formats than ever.

Back in mid-June, we started posting weekly Highlights on our subreddit, almost like a mini blog covering everything we rolled out that week. They have received a ton of praise ever since. Thank you for supporting our push to keep you in the loop.

We appreciate every piece of feedback, bug report, and feature request we receive. Much of what we released this month came straight from you.

Truth is, this is just the start.

Service Disruption Follow-Up

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, we're back with another service disruption update.

First of all, we'd like to sincerely apologize for the recent downtime.

Having two major service disruptions within 10 days is frustrating for everyone.

During this incident, Drime and most of its services were unavailable for several hours. No user data was lost, modified, or compromised during this incident.

What happened?

Following a change to one of our Cloudflare plans, a security configuration prevented the automatic renewal of an SSL certificate. Once the certificate expired, access to Drime and its services was effectively blocked.

This is the type of issue that can usually be identified and resolved very quickly.

Unfortunately, the incident occurred in the middle of the night in France, delaying detection and response, which significantly increased the duration of the outage.

Our team consists of two people, Lucas and myself. While this allows us to move quickly and ship updates at a rapid pace, it also creates challenges when critical issues occur outside of normal working hours.

As Drime continues to grow, we know we need to improve our ability to detect and respond to incidents regardless of when they happen.

How we're preventing this from happening again

After the previous outage, we mentioned that we were preparing a technical blog post explaining what happened and the infrastructure improvements we were implementing.

Instead, we're now preparing a broader article covering all the measures we've already taken, along with additional systems currently being deployed to reduce the impact of incidents like these, especially when they occur outside of our team's working hours.

In this particular case, because the issue originated from an SSL and provider-level configuration issue that blocked access before traffic could even reach our services, many traditional redundancy mechanisms would not have helped.

As mentioned in our previous post, we've already been working on infrastructure improvements for some time. This incident has simply reinforced the importance of accelerating those efforts.

We'll share more details once everything is fully implemented and validated.

What's next?

As you can probably imagine, situations like this are exactly what we want to avoid.

Building Drime isn't only about shipping features and improving performance. It's also about earning and maintaining your trust.

Incidents happen. What matters is how we respond to them, what we learn from them, and what we do to make sure they're less likely to happen again. We're committed to continuing to improve both the product and the platform behind it.

We're not running a giveaway this time. However, we have new updates planned for today and additional desktop/mobile improvements coming this week.

We're also still looking at ways to thank the community for its patience and support, as mentioned in our previous giveaway winner announcement.

Thank you for sticking with us and for continuing to help us improve Drime every day

Post-mortem: June 7 Outage + 6TB Lifetime Giveaway

Hi everyone,

First of all, we're sorry for today's outage.

Drime experienced a major service disruption caused by a combination of server and database issues affecting critical parts of our infrastructure. During this period, access to the web app, desktop apps, mobile apps, API, and third-party integrations was impacted.

What happened?

The incident was caused by a combination of server and database issues affecting critical parts of our infrastructure.

After identifying the root cause, we had to perform infrastructure upgrades and adjustments to fully restore service. Part of this process involved upgrades through our infrastructure provider, OVH. While these operations are routine, their completion time can vary depending on the systems involved, which contributed to the overall recovery time.

No user data was lost, modified, or compromised during the incident.

We take full responsibility for the reliability of the platform and have already identified several improvements to reduce the likelihood and impact of similar incidents in the future.

We're preparing a technical blog post that will provide additional details about the incident, the recovery process, and the improvements we're implementing moving forward.

How we're preventing this from happening again

For some time, we've been working on a major infrastructure redesign focused on increasing reliability and further reducing the impact of infrastructure incidents.

While Drime already includes multiple layers of redundancy and safeguards, our goal is to continue improving resilience through additional server redundancy, database clustering, load balancing and a more distributed architecture.

These improvements are designed to further reduce single points of failure and help prevent platform-wide disruptions like the one we experienced today.

Following this incident, accelerating the deployment of these improvements has become an even higher priority for us, and we're doing everything we can to bring them online as quickly as possible.

A personal note

This is not something we ever want our users to experience.

Especially after all the updates and improvements we've been shipping across Drime recently, having a major outage like this is the exact opposite of what we want to deliver.

Today's outage does not reflect the level of reliability we aim to provide. Incidents like this remain exceptional for Drime, and we've already identified concrete actions to help ensure a similar situation is far less likely to happen again.

6TB Lifetime Giveaway

We know outages are frustrating, especially when you're relying on Drime for work, backups, or personal projects, and we genuinely appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while we worked to resolve the issue.

As a small thank you to the community, we're giving away one 6TB Lifetime plan.

We'll randomly select a winner in 3 days.

Thank you for your support and for helping us improve Drime every day.

𝗔 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗩𝟮 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀

We know many of you are waiting for Desktop V2 on macOS.

The wait has been longer than expected, but we wanted to make sure the rewrite was worth it.

The Windows release has given us valuable feedback and confidence in the new architecture, and we're actively working toward the macOS release.

Important:

Desktop V2 cannot automatically upgrade from the previous desktop application.

If you're still using the old version:

  • Download Desktop V2 manually from drime.cloud/desktop
  • Uninstall the previous desktop app
  • Install the new version

In some situations, remnants of the old application can create conflicts even after uninstalling. We've added automatic cleanup mechanisms, but if you encounter any issues, please contact us and we'll help.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂

Special thanks to u/tomat0juice for redesigning and refreshing our Reddit community. We really appreciate the time and effort put into making it a better place for everyone.

We're continuing to improve Drime every day thanks to your feedback, bug reports and feature suggestions. It's been amazing seeing the positive feedback around recent updates, and we're excited to keep building the cloud platform you deserves.

More coming very soon.
